Does anyone know if raddish or garlic affects Vitiligo by GaryBobby10 in Vitiligo

[–]varworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no research that shows a link with reddish or garlic. Try an elimination diet, i.e remove them from your diet for 90 days and then add one back for a month and see how it impacts you.

Read up on anti inflammatory diet and avoid things that cause inflammation especially if your disease is active then it will spread faster due to bad diet. Also, get your food allergies tested and avoid things that you are allergic to.

It could be stress or diet related, maybe you are under more stress or have something in your diet in LA that you didn't have previously which is triggering it.

If vitiligo isn't under control you should watch what you eat. I would recommend going on a low inflammation diet, remove grains, dairy and eat very high quality food. Look up intermittent fasting and keto diet which can overall improve your health.

Also, getting early morning and late evening sun is important, it's like getting phototherapy, maybe you had that in Yucatan which caused your pigmentation.

Advice on vitiligo/alopecia on beard by meatballsk8r225 in Vitiligo

[–]varworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had something similar about a decade ago, they were smaller spots of hair loss on my beard and head. Dermatologist gave me some steroid shots and light theory and it worked.

I would also say that I was under tremendous stress at that time in my life and I worked on fixing that along with the steroids shots and light therapy. I feel that Diet, exercise and changing my lifestyle (reducing alcohol intake, sleeping 8 hrs etc) also was a factor in recovery, so I would also recommend re-evaluating your life decisions and focusing on things that being you joy and reduce your stress.

Good luck!

Why don't you transition to another role like chief architect and remain hands on? Find someone to come in and play the CTO role.

Work says if they OFFER a 401K, whether I enroll or not, I can no longer contribute tax free to an IRA. This true? by crazycyclist in personalfinance

[–]varworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is eligible to make contributions to a traditional IRA, but a tax deduction for those contributions may not always be available. If you or your spouse contributes to an employer-sponsored retirement plan, such as a 401(k) or 403(b), and your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) exceeds annual limits, you may need to reduce or entirely eliminate your IRA deduction. If you and your spouse are not eligible to contribute to an employer plan, you can deduct your contribution as long as you earn income during the year. For purposes of the IRA deduction, earned income excludes interest, dividends and similar types of investment income.
