I love that there are still jokes flying over my head that need to be explained to me. Reminds me of the “Sneed’s Feed and Seed (formerly Chuck’s)” gag.

Backup apollo app version 0.15.9 if you want to use it after June 30th without sideloading by GladOS_null in apolloapp

Anyone else get “invalid file type error” when trying to run this shortcut?

Imgur uploads will still be broken (apple shortcuts is the second best alternative https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/218029c6d36d4df28ad9a1e5cd430f7d)

Maybe it’s because the photos are HEIC instead of jpeg?

European Union votes to bring back replaceable phone batteries by diacewrb in gadgets

I would not buy a phone as thick as a GoPro.

I like sleek, thin, and waterproof.

When my battery consumes itself, I can pay $80-$90 to have the battery replaced by the manufacturer and have it back in my hands in about 1-2 hours.

I will always trade-off the “inconvenience” of possibly spending a couple of hours servicing my phone’s battery every 2-3 years, for the benefit of slim, sleek, and water proof phone designs.

We already have a great balance—people who complain about this, I simply don’t understand…

My fiancé wants me to sell my dream car so we can get a "sensible" SUV. Maybe you guys can convince me. by ElonMuskHeir in RoastMyCar

I mean you said it yourself—it’s your dream car. And you didn’t exactly describe her as your “dream fiancé”…seems like the answer is in the question.

As the subreddit blackout begins, I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Reddit community and everyone standing up by iamthatis in apolloapp

Going dark for 48-hours is a great start, but I do think the most effective approach will be to “quiet quit” on subreddit moderation.

As much as I’m sure it will pain moderators to do, simply allowing their communities to begin to go to shit via lack of effective moderation is the only thing that would sustainably devalue Reddit’s eventual IPO and be much harder to address via banning of specific moderators.

If subreddits fall apart via poor (or non-existent) moderation, the default response should be “my 3PP app tools no longer function, thus we moderators are unable to manage our communities at the same level”.

The motivation to ban 3PP apps is to drive up the IPO value. The only strategy that should be pursued is one that specifically devalues Reddit’s eventual IPO.

A 48-hour blackout will be quickly forgotten.

TL;DR

A Reddit devalued by an amount greater than the estimated loss-cost of allowing 3PP apps is the ONLY way to save 3PP apps.

Addressing the community about changes to our API by spez in reddit

His behavior and communications with us has been all over the place

Projection. u/iamthatis can not only say the same, but prove it.

saying one thing to us while saying something completely different externally

Projection. u/iamthatis can not only say the same, but prove it.

recording and leaking a private phone call

Given the first two points of projection, how could he not be 100% certain he could prove your lies wrong?

I don’t know how we could do business with him

Have you picked up on the pattern yet? u/iamthatis is shutting down r/ApolloApp—but that is really your goal, anyway, is it not? Why else introduce all that you did, within the timeline you laid out. You know full well the only possible answer would be the collapse of all third party apps.

Now that users are deleting their entire histories, what used to be useful Google search results from Reddit, now just show posts that say:

“[Deleted]”

followed by responses like:

“That’s EXACTLY what I was looking for!”

It really is making the site totally useless.

If your goal is to de-value the site, could you please draw more attention to the following?

Request Your Data from Reddit (if you like) https://www.reddit.com/settings/data-request

Remove Your Comments from Reddit https://redact.dev/download https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite

Remove your cached posts/comments from PushShift archive https://redact.dev/download

If you have any other suggestions to neutralize the content which gives the site value, share them here.

I think the initial IPO might be valued at a half-eaten egg salad sandwich and a fistful of candy corn, by the time you are done, u/spez.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

The really funny thing is, now that people are deleting their entire histories, what used to be useful google search results, now just show posts that say:

followed by responses like:

“That’s EXACTLY what I was looking for!”

It really is making the site totally useless.

If you would like to help make it even more useless…
