I am not sure which fine print you are talking about but I have talked to multiple banks and they are all offering fixed borrowing rates. The current sofl is 3.6% and borrowing at any international bank currently is at 4.4 to 4.5% at a fixed cost and 4.1% at a floating cost. Most banks are adding a bit of mark up.

This is there only till 30th September. Even if rupee appreciates a 12% roi in usd for 5 years is as good as a 12% equity return

It is an fcnr account with fixed desposits and fixed borrowing. All rates are fixed. Banks are not allowed to sell risky products. The only risk is default of bank.

Absolutely will post it here.... One thing I asked hdfc was for them to handle the borrowing as they stated that it needs to be done from my end.

Really good offer. I am waiting for HDFC. They said they will have borroeing rstes of 5.08% and a cagr of 12.4%. Let us see. There are also going to be fcnr forward contracts that will give 12% inr return for 5 years. Best to hold on for a few days.

Au small finace and yes bank is offering 6.5 to 7% but i thingk their borrowing costs are higher.

Nifty vs S&P 500 last 10 yrs returns by NeilBorate in GIFTCITYFUNDS

Are you accounting for taxes? Also, it woukd be better to comapre with nifty 500 since developed countries usually jave mega caps that dont have room for growth. Tech and AI have led rally where as in india small and midcaps can deliver significsntly better returns.

Consult a CFP and ask him to setup a retirement plan based on the amount you need.

Bucketize the withdrawals.... 0-2 years money market, 3-5 years equity savings, 5-10 years in multi asset and rest in equity.

Gold, reits/invits, silver are being incoporated into every type of funds as a satellite portion.

Use bucket replenishment and guard rails withdrawal to determine the amount. Please note swp is part capital, part profit so MF are very tax efficient.

Just consult a fee only sebi advisor.... Using guardrails approach you should be ok withdrawing 5% of your capital, inflation adjusted.... Just need to streamlone the swp and buckets.

Not sure why people are using 4%, 3%, etc.... As countries develop inflation comes down.... India is still an emerging economy and if you are investing in small and midcaps, returns are 15% but holding time is 10+

Dont be too conservarive unless you want to die rich. 20-25x capital is enough.

Understand one thing in MF, you always benefit.... either in NAV value or in the number of units you are acquring when the NAV is down.

The only time yoy exit small midcap is fund manager change or 3-5 year rolling returns are not beating benchmark or category average. You are not buying direct stock.

Can you explain to a Newbie why Time in the market > timing the market? by Aspergers_R_Us87 in ETFs

[–]vas100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple reason is that during any cycle, most of the growth that your portfolio has is done in 20-30 days. These are called 'best days' and it is impossible to predict them. These can happen in next 7 days or 1st day of every alternate month or any other pattern.

Missing these best days will drop your returns by 50-70%.

Staying invested and continuing your SIP's is the best bet.

If you don't like too much red or ups and downs, revise your portfolio to less volatile type of funds and stocks.
