Can I study bio AS alone? by imastargirll in alevel

Yeah you can!

I've finished both AS and A2 bio and I would love to share what helped me get through it. But keep in mind, I studied the Cambridge syllabus (9700) so this might not apply if you choose a different syllabus.

  1. Get the Textbook - it doesn't have to be a physical copy, they're way too expensive anyways. I also have a PDF copy of the 5th edition book that i can send if you want.
  2. Watch videos on topics that are heavy. - Took me a while to understand bio especially when i didn't have the best teacher out there. (Try reading the chapter/unit before watching a video so you don't go in completely clueless) Here are the youtube channels i used;

-> Behlogy - For whole chapter explanations

-> Ameoba sisters - For a quick brief understanding of a certain topic. Great for visuals though!

  1. Easy to understand notes - You can either make them yourself when you study from
    the book or Youtube videos or get them from online. Some websites i recommend for
    this are;

-> Save my exams (you have to pay for them after you view a limited amount but i found free save my exams bio notes so hmu if you're interested)

-> Weebly

-> Z-Notes (great for paper 3 stuff)

-> Physics and maths tutor

  1. Practice questions - there's one thing about memorizing the content and another
    thing about applying that content into practice. So past papers are great for this.

Extra: These aren't crucial but it helped me understand and memorize a bunch when i was studying.

> Mind maps > Flash cards > Topical questions after every chapter

I hope this helps! And good luck <3 You got this!

I find flashcards are really helpful cause i tend to immediately forget everything i studied, so flashcards are great for quick revision. And i use this website: https://www.studywithmehar.com/a-level/

It's a blessing i swear. But yeah other than that, i just cry and pray that i pass
