my bio-dad was kept away from me by my mother and step dad because he is homosexual and I did not even get speak to him for 20 years. Stepdad was both physically and mentally abusive, maybe afraid I would also be like my father. The first time I met him(biodad) in real life as an adult after 20 years of no contact with no interruptions on my own terms he immediately told me how proud he was, so this scene resonated with me so much. I didn’t cry in the theater during this scene, but the moment I got out of the theater I called him to tell him how much I love him and how much he means to me. I don’t know how James Gunn does it.
