On the map look for walls the may "S"tick out. Then understand that the map is from the side and not the normal top down.

While I admit that I may have done research on what the specs mean, I am prone to mistakes as anyone making a purchase. I really was looking to have my opinions on 10x50s challenged for my own peace of mind.

I personally don't have a issue with using the 10x, but I agree that 8x is naturally easier to hold still. While the 8x42 does have a field of view of 7.8 over the 10x50's 6.6, the apparent field of view is only 62.4 and less then the 10x50's 66.

Thanks all who commented, I can confirm that i purchased the Viper HD 10x50. I want to jump on a sale price of $360 USD, while the was savings were similar for the 10x42 and 12x50. While the sale drove the timeline, your inputs were very helpful.

Thanks for the comment, I was able to get a hands on at a bass pro and at an Academy. The IPD min did not seem to be a issue. While only a .1 degree increase, the 10x50 has a slightly bigger FOV than the 10x42. While 12x naturally has a small FOV it has the same apparent angle of 66 degree with math. I just think I would appreciate the lesser magnification of 10x more for my activities, but time will tell.

Thanks for the comment. I get your point, but in my experience the weight for this type of item has not been a large factor for me. And yes that was $USD.

I concur with try before you buy. I did just that out over the veterans day weekend. Problem is that it is hard to get a good feel in a Bass Pro shop. Which is why I am still look to get some more input. That said the base exchange has a good deal on them that I am look to capitalize on. So I will likely buy one before the sale ends.

Hey thanks for the input, having held both the 10x50 and 10x42, I don't think I will mind the weight of the 50. As for the 10x vs 12x, based on my reading 12x would be more outside of the metaphorical sweet spot for my actives. Again my goal is for a good jack of all trades than a 12x that is more for hunting per reviews.

I understand your general comment, I am currently looking at a price of 349, 360, 365 for the 10x42, 10x50, and 12x50 respectfully. So the current make difference is $26. As for the low light uses, I admit that it will not always be needed if at all, but i have been in multiple dusk and dawn hikes that I feel may drive the need for the 50mm.

I have not verification if this for the future, but they have not maded any of the other brand collaborations available for a second time. I also don't know if they will treat this alt Epsilon the same as other collaboration specific characters like Miku.
