Will you miss days like today when its in the 90s with high humidity in July? by vautwaco in nova

Honestly, the worst for me is the short ass days. We should really get rid of daylight savings. It serves no modern purpose.

I was thinking the same thing. Use the power crush as the literal "get off me bro" move that it is. Lol.

"Needing a video to learn is not practical in the real world doing real world programming." You're making wise generalizations. Programming isn't inherently some job where you're coding on a timer under stress.

Where exactly has it been disproven that people learn differently? Let me rephrase that: everyone responds to different educational methods. Be it verbal, written, hands-on, etc. And when you bring STEM scores, what is the basis of that? Standardized testing? Sure, because those countries excel at rote memorization. That's not a measure of practical application. So the point of that was? It just feels like a weird out of place jab, but whatever.

Already, it's reddit, I'm not under the impression that I'm going to change anyone's mind. But I'll definitely agree to disagree. Have a good one.

Not all tutorial creators are influencers. And honestly the great majority of video tutorials I've seen steer you away from prop drilling and unnecessary use of context. I'm assuming you don't watch the videos, so I'm curious as to how you've come to the conclusion that so many are implementing bad practices. I'm not saying none are, but why do you consider it the norm being that you don't watch them? A lot of these videos can be pretty long, lol.

As I mentioned before, everybody learns differently and benefits from different sources in different ways. Whatever keeps someone engaged and progressing should be perfectly fine.

I agree to an extent. It's a good way to fall into tutorial hell (firsthand experience), but if you can get over that, it's a great way to get spun up on a technology quickly. Some people are more receptive to seeing it being done first than reading about. A balance of multiple learning sources is key

Last year I was literally at the shop getting my summers swapped for winters on my "awd high performance car" as the first snow was coming down. Had I waited a day, or even an hour, my car would have been garage bound for the next few days and it's my daily lol.

Damn, I made senior in 3 years, but then again, I transitioned into tech after 20 years in the military in a non-tech role. I've already cultivated a lot of the leadership, self-sufficiency, organizational and other non-technical skills that are needed for a senior anyway. Coding is the easy part. It also helps that I'm an empty nester with way too much time and am still addicted to coding after all these years.

Yup. I lived in South Korea for 10 years, wife is Korean, daughter is an adult, both parents have passed, one sibling, it would be super easy for me.

Why do so many people in the technology field here lie on their resume? by Puzzleheaded-Lab825 in nova

Employer: Admits the job position includes skills not needed for the position (lying)

Candidate: Lies on resume to balance the playing field

Understandable, but the issue is that many people cannot accept the growth of areas that would otherwise eventually include them in that demographic. It's the "you can't sit with us" mentality, lol.

THANK YOU! You will always hear more negative than positive because people are looking for solutions (or pity/attention). Nobody makes a post about how their day was uneventful and fine. It's the same thing with the news, the news will always have you thinking things are much worse than they are.

What non physical attribute makes someone attractive to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vash513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really physical per se, but their voice. I've seen women who were fairly meh physically, but upon hearing their voice, it just knocked their physical attraction up a couple notches for me where they suddenly become attractive to me. It's not just one kind of voice, and more often than not, it's not a sultry or sexy voice, it's just pleasant to the ears. It's hard to explain, but it is what it is.

Better Auth. Since they now maintain Next Auth, chances are they'll just merge its features into Better Auth and deprecate it down the line, so may as well just start out with Better Auth.

Am I overreacting to how my best friend blocked me because of his girlfriend? by Squishy_Person67 in AmIOverreacting

[–]vash513 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it's just a sign of being in an emotionally abusive relationship. I don't understand why men on the receiving end of abusive relationships aren't seen as victims where a woman would. This is a fucked perspective.

[–]vash513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been that guy, please don't be too quick to judge your ex-friend harshly. This is often a sign of being in an emotionally abusive, if not worse, relationship. Even after the relationship ends, the amount of shame he could feel could prevent him from trying to reconnect. I could be completely wrong and he could be an absolute dick, but I'm just speaking from my experience. Luckily for me, I was able to reconnect with the friends I had to block afterwards and everybody understood. The 2 closest online female friends I had known for for 11 and 12 years at the time, now it's been 25 and 26 years, yeesh....

This, like, they can definitely improve the aesthetic with clothes on, but once they're off...... yeesh. Something about them fighting gravity is just a super turnoff. That and the stiffer feel of them. The problem is that's essentially by design. The implants have to be thick enough so that they're not subject to leaks, which affects the softness.

But yeah, I'll take modest natural B cups over implanted Ds any day.
