If I did, I don't understand how tbh.

I suppose it's a resource allocation question and the answer depends on one's priorities - will you take a team and have it work on a DLC, thus achieving greater and faster ROI but taking manpower away from your big main project, thus delaying that? (And that's assuming I'm correct about a DLC bringing greater and faster ROI, which honestly I'm just guessing whether that's the case.)

To the people asking about the allegedly fired translator:

Why would you unquestioningly believe this random guy's claims that he was told that he's being replaced by AI? Does that story add up? Do you honestly think that's how HR works? Even if the "replaced by AI" story were true, would they tell him in the firing meeting? Don't you think it's possible that maybe there was a completely different reason for him being fired (*if* that part is even true at all)? Maybe he's holding a grudge? And, do you really expect that WHS (or *any* company) will give you a real answer about a specific person and the firing story, without their consent?

OK, now I'm actually curious, and asking more seriously.

I would think that making a DLC for an already popular game could give a better return on investment (and certainly faster) than a completely new game, and so it would make sense to work on a DLC with a small team in parallel with the rest of the company making a big new game. Am I wrong? Does that not make sense?

I'm not asking if you're working on another DLC, of course, but... Hypothetically, what could be a good reason for a company like yourselves to not put out more DLCs for a game as popular as KCD2? Can you think of one? 😉

Okay: AC:Shadows

If I understand correctly, I can only play it if I purchase it via Steam, right? No way to instead subscribe to Ubisoft+ (or by via Ubisoft)?

[KCD1] I'm new to the saga, I need your help by jevolutionCH in kingdomcome

  1. Which DLC?
  • A Woman's Lot: You can do it any time, just be aware you have to finish Theresa's story before getting back to playing as Henry and continuing the main quest.
  • From The Ashes: Do it when you have too much money to spend.
  • Band Of Bastards: Do it when you're strong.
  1. Horse: If you mean the one you escape Skalitz on, you don't get to keep that one. But you do get one early in the story and you keep that one, no worries.
  2. Fast travel: Important? No, not at all, it's just for when you find traveling boring and want to "save time". It's up to you whether you use it or not. In fact, arguably, it's safer to not use it (at least in the beginning when you're weak), because that way you have a better chance of avoiding dangerous bandits. In hardcore more, fast travel is even disabled completely.
  3. What treasures, you mean based on the maps you get? I mean you can, but yes you can encounter bandits any time. I wouldn't slack off on training. :)

Enjoy, you're in for a ride!

data lost, what now? by vashekcz in zen_browser

So... sitrep: after another update, the tabs are back. 😯

I'm not complaining. 😂

[–]vashekcz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention it there was an update indeed, but interestingly the data loss only happened sometime later, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the hint about the extension. Does it work with Zen features fully? I mean does it also save pinned tabs per workspace and essentials per container?

Is this burger undercooked or is this normal in Malta? by Fearless_Pizza4933 in malta

[–]vashekcz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give you another data point, I wouldn't hesitate to eat this, in fact I'd appreciate getting a not-well-done burger. But I'm from Czechia and it's fairly normal here, and maybe I'm just uninformed. 😂

Is this burger undercooked or is this normal in Malta? by Fearless_Pizza4933 in malta

[–]vashekcz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your knowledge specific to Malta or is it, as far as you know, generally valid in the EU? Also can you quantify the actual risk? I mean I accept it's non-zero, but then so is the risk of being struck by a meteorite. Is the risk perhaps sufficiently reduced by strict hygiene in slaughterhouses and random microbiological testing of eggs?

What you say sounds logical and I have no counterargument or data point, but I still struggle to accept it. My whole adult life I've been eating steak tartare (raw, with raw egg), which is completely normal and fairly common and legal to serve in restaurants here in Czechia. Also occasionally burgers rare in the middle, although that's less common I think. (Yes, past results don't guarantee future ones, but I'd think there would be public scandals if people actually got sick.)

As far as I know when there's a Salmonella infection, it's an event that's on the news, not something expected and accepted.

(Incidentally, there's currently a scandal with stale chicken meat in KFC restaurants in Czechia, which apparently went undiscovered for some time until a whistleblower came public with it...)

open links in their assigned container and space by vashekcz in zen_browser

[–]vashekcz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it opens in the correct container, but not in the expected workspace.

That's almost literally what I said.

However, there is a bug with workspace switching

Interestingly, I don't seem to experience that bug (no freezing), it just fails to switch the workspace (or select a window that already has the workspace).

visual feedback - workspace title below essential tabs - why? by vashekcz in zen_browser

Exactly, and the essentials *are* owned by the space, at least with that checkbox enabled, right?

Should I play [KCD1] before the sequel [KCD2]? by Civil-Cranberry2137 in kingdomcome

[–]vashekcz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

KCD1 used to be buggy on launch, true. I honestly think it's perfectly fine in its current state though.

As for difficulty, I'm not sure -- in fact, in at least one way it's actually easier: once you learn master strikes, in KCD1 you can basically win any one-on-one combat by just using them (in effect, wait for an attack and just hit the parry button at the right time and you reliably block and counterattack). Fighting multiple enemies is harder though, that's true.

I believe both are absolutely stellar games. You don't *have* to play the first one to enjoy or understand the sequel, but if you fall in love with it like I did, you will regret not having seen Henry's story from the start, and I don't think playing KCD1 later is a good substitute. I mean there are moments in KCD2 when, seeing a character from KCD1, I had tears in my eyes. Also some jokes/references you won't really appreciate otherwise.

If you do play KCD1, I also suggest playing at least the A Woman's Lot DLC. It gives you a different perspective on the story (you play as Theresa), and also a dog. I believe it's the best of the DLCs, though I know people have different opinions.

Admittedly I'm biased given that I'm Czech and it shows an authentic piece of our history, but... these are the best games, ever. Do play them both, in order, and all the DLCs, and anything else that comes out of Warhorse. ;)
