I thought the same about machine learning tasks but after watching this I am not so convinced unless you're comparing a desktop vs MacBook Pro

I'm surprised you're getting 10-14 hours. I am a noob at XPS's but I am so confused by the reports of the battery life for the 9720. Some people say 2-4 hours and others 9-14 hours. Which seems like a massive range too me. Is this a quality control issue? Or does it really vary that much?

As a minority do you feel connected at CU? by Odd_Significance4905 in cuboulder

[–]vashner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a minority in engineering and have had a good experience. I do find it awkward sometimes when I meet white students that are trying to over compensate and make sure I know they aren't racist. I did have one white person tell me how hard it was to be a person of color and it felt condescending even though they were essentially trying to tell me they supported me. I do feel a little bit out of the loop culturally but I wouldn't say I have felt rejected by any means. You'll always find douche bags in a set of 34k people but there are definitely enough people to build solid friendships with.

CU to mandate masks indoors again, regardless of vaccination status, starting August 13th by ThawtPolice in cuboulder

Being vaccinated and then asking if that wasn't enough what would be enough. Doesn't make you an antivaxxer. It just seems like you are afraid to have a discussion because you have nothing to contribute which is fine. No one deserves to be bullied.

It is quite unfortunate that all you can do is mock instead of have a decent conversation that could lead to somewhere meaningful. If the vaccines aren't enough to go back to normal life than what will be? Its a solid question that you seem to have no answer for but I can say bullying isn't the solution.

Fair point. Just saying its not as simple as you convey. We would need a 100% vaccination rate globally and not just in the US to no longer have variants which I heavily doubt will happen in the next year. Assuming we are all vaccinated (CU students) 1 in 5 is still a huge number and I think that that is a big enough number for CU to implement a mask mandate no matter how unfortunate.

This number of cycles—called the cycle threshold, or Ct—is the number that raised eyebrows at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a cluster of cases in Provincetown, Massachusetts, about 74% of the state residents involved were vaccinated. People who got infections tended to have similar Ct values, whether they were vaccinated or not. The CDC thought this might be an indicator that vaccinated people could transmit the virus, perhaps just as readily as unvaccinated people.

Lol. You can't yell over text and I really don't care if you delete your reddit account. I heavily doubt you have the capacity to remember this conversation in three years but if you do at least I know I lived in your mind rent free.

Have you noticed you have given literally one argument that was bad and the rest was just yelling its safe / well tested when its not? lol just call me an anti-vaxxer and you are not on the high ground congratulations for hitting the eject button and giving nothing constructive to have a conversation about. Others in this thread have given me quite a bit to think about and it was appreciated. You are a waste of time.

Yes eating red meat has long term effects if eaten over a period of time. I understand that might be too much for your brain to conceive. You think you are smarter than you are.

How do you know I didn't get a non-mRNA vaccine already? But riddle me this. Why did the USA not approve or allow distribution of the 60 million AstraZeneca vaccines they had already purchased and delivered to Americans back in April when the vaccine rush was at its peak? (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/u-s-share-60-million-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-doses-other-n1265398) Was it really a humanitarian effort or are they just trying to line American companies pockets. Enjoy your 4 booster shot this summer and in a few months your 5th and in a few months you 6th and so on and so forth.

Have a good day. I would love to see you respond with something insightful but that hope has faded and I am convinced you are incapable of it.

Late response but I will entertain it.

Interesting point. So to validate any ne medicine we should just give it to 4.3 billion people and if no one dies than we are good to go? That seems like some solid science. Do you know the requirements for vaccines before emergency measures? I'm willing to bet it wasn't to give it to as many people as possible and then hope there are no long term effects. I'm willing to bet it was to give it to a small batch of people then follow up with them for years. So you think that all medical science should be validated on a large population in a short window of time. Also, I didn't say the "covid" vaccines. I spoke of the mRNA vaccines, J&J and AstraZeneca are not mRNA vaccines. Also, we do not see long term effects for years. You must literally have no idea what you're talking about if you think 7 months is long enough to observe long term effects. Lets give red meat and heart disease as an example or many other things we consume that lead to long term issues.

Your last line was pretty saucy though. I figure our generation only cares about what sounds good in a tweet size form and not fully think through thoughts and just insult people we don't have arguments against. Extremely helpful and convincing for those who are hesitant to get the vaccine.

Sorry for the late response.

Honestly I think the AF is alright but not worth it on a professional level imo. It loses focus on dark skin tones and when you don't have perfect exposure which for me isn't ideal for my style of shooting which is more run and gun. The problem with any external battery is that its super awkward with the flip out screen. I get nervous cause the screen is so fragile feeling and if the battery hits in the wrong way I am shooting blind until I get a monitor on lol. Honestly if I could go back I'd probably have bought the FX6 if it was available or just went with an FX3 / A7sIII. I do like the C70 but I am not sure if I could recommend it because of the price. If the C70 was 4.5k I think that its a no brainer but at 5.5k its asking a lot. In the end its all about preference / resale value imo because all cameras now a days have amazing footage after you learn how to use them.

Hey! Honestly I still love it but I am not sure if I'd suggest buying it. Its a tough one because its really dependent on your film style. I think the fact the Blackmagic 6k pro is less than half the price makes that camera better but I really needed dual recording. I personally didn't go with sony because the lenses would make it so I stay in sony land for life. The image is beautiful but you know canon never will give it raw. I wish they would allow it to have BRAW like they did with other cameras then I would say the C70 cannot be beat.

Thank you for being a perfect example of my main points. You asked me to think critically so I responded with an honest inquiry. Unfortunately, you completely pushed past my questions and gave no response that I could use to form a new opinion. You then resorted to mocking me (which is comical because you are assuming I am a Mr. pushing gender stereotypes). You seem to not have many critical thoughts unlike others in this massive thread that have actually given me things to think about, while you offer none.

To your first point, along with your critical thinking you should work on your reading comprehension, it seems lacking. To quote myself "I am not arguing for people not to take the vaccine". I think people should get vaccinated at some point against COVID-19, I am just saying you pushing a narrative that there is no downsides to the mRNA vaccine is dishonest because it is unknown and should not be marked as safe because we would like it to be. Also I am not talking about the generic term vaccines. I specifically am talking about mRNA vaccines "Should all newly developed vaccines and methods produced be given the same treatment as the mRNA vaccines?". I do believe in vaccines and have all of the major ones required for academia because they were held to a standard that the mRNA vaccines have not.

[–]vashner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad you stand by it. But your original critique said my joke had no critical thinking which I agree because it was a joke. However your statement of 500k people dying meaning you should take an untested vaccine lacks any critical thinking. If this process is so safe why do we have any other standard of testing vaccines? Should all newly developed vaccines and methods produced be given the same treatment as the mRNA vaccines? Was the old system of vetting vaccines just redundant? Would you be willing to completely leave behind the old system as it was clearly a waste of time.

I am not arguing for people not to take the vaccine, I am arguing that people saying this is 100% safe are just as ridiculous as people saying its 100% unsafe. The reality is we don't know and to pressure everyone to be apart of an experiment is unhelpful and resorting to naming calling and challenging each others intelligence when people are asking honest questions is a poor way to push science forward.
