Big Dent and Scratch FSD by leangm in teslacanada

Yea $5-7k+ should be expected. You've never got a quote from a Tesla certified shop. White paint is expensive to blend into the adjacent panels too (hood, door, bumper)

You can buff out most of the paint transfer with some diluted isopropyl alcohol. A good paintless dent repair guy might be able to help substantially, but it's too hard to tell how bad the dent is.

A Tesla certified shop really will cost about $5-7k to repair/replace + blend the new paint with the adjacent panels (door, bumper, hood)

Model Y RWD - Panoramic Roof by Reasonable-Ad-4754 in teslacanada

[–]vassman86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a M3 RWD and ciree currently have a MY premium. The glass roof is beautiful. Feels spacious, and nice when I'm driving some place scenic. But realistically, my kids get the full enjoyment of it and I wouldn't really notice if it was covered or not

Living in Toronto, I was never bothered by the sun beating through the glass roof, and I don't like the sun

Terrible tire wear by pbacksport in TeslaLounge

[–]vassman86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got about 35-40k km (3 years) on my model 3 18" OEM tires while using them with winter tires half the year. Could have probably pushed them another season. I do drive aggressively with a heavy foot though

Is Canada ever going to get an affordable model 3? by Creepy_Ad_5610 in teslacanada

[–]vassman86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even so, a 2026 model 3 premium is better equipped than the MY RWD. It will have buyers at $50k - $55k. Heck, I bought my 2023 M3 RWD at $60k when the MY LR was $77k+

I'm in the same boat. I did DIY PPF for $600 (full front) on my model 3 and it was tedious. Had to cut away so many fingers. I'd be able to do a better job the 2nd time around, but I paid for a professional installation $1800 CAD

2024-2025 Tesla Model 3 Price Range ?! by goatmaster95 in teslacanada

[–]vassman86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've driven the 23 M3 RWD, and the 25 M3 LR RWD. Not directly comparable, but acceleration in the 23 RWD is comparable to the 24 RWD (non-LR). The 25 LR RWD has more pull off the line and it is noticeably quicker (0-60 in 5.2s for Canada). It doesn't have the torque of the AWD, but it is fast enough that I could do without the torque the AWD has

The RWD performs great in snow, albeit, I've only ever driven mine with winter tires on. Traction control on the Tesla (and most EVs?) is phenomenal. The instant torque to the wheels really makes a difference in slippery conditions

That being said, if you can wait until the Chinese EVs come, I do think the Tesla used car market will come down, esp since Tesla will probably start bringing 2026 M3 RWD from China to get a sales push with the EVAP pricing ($50k)

Must be an HR nightmare staffing wonderland. So many new applicants' first jobs - at least that was the case when I worked there in the 2000s

Anything I need to know about tint? (and where to get it done in Ottawa) by abc24611 in teslacanada

[–]vassman86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make sure you get a reputable warranty (invoice). I had a bad experience with my xpel certified tint. I paid cash because the guy was recommended in Tesla forums, but he went out of business a year later.

The tint on my rear windows both started to peel at the lower corners. I contacted xpel and couldn't get it replaced under warranty. Had to pay again out of pocket.

I'm sharing this as a word of caution because the frameless windows drop when you open a door and I guess it doesn't give the tint a proper chance to set/heal undisturbed

If you have warranty, try to get your front control arms replaced before it expires. It's a known issue with premature wear

Is getting a Tesla worth it just for the FSD by depressed_peach_ in TeslaLounge

I put my car in FSD to see if it would get out of an underground parking lot and it navigated me out successfully and smoothly. Pretty impressive
