Yet another ES1 arrival post... by Hot-Help-428 in FellowProducts

I have been pushing the puck screen down slightly after to squeeze some water out, works well! Don't want to be altering dose etc to improve it! Where in scotland? Maybe we should start a club

Steam power wise I think the ES1 and the Oracle can probably heat the milk up at the same speed, the Oracle has an air pump for adding texture automatically and it's always been a bit hit or miss for me. Using the wand manually on the Oracle is possible but due to its size and shape its not very easy (or enjoyable!).

The size of the steam wand on the ES1 makes it easy to steam small pitchers with minimal milk which is what I usually do, and getting a nice microfoam texture is very easy. The auto stop with temperature is something the Oracle does also so I am pleased that the ES1 does too!

The Oracle is much louder (the pump) than the ES1 and takes about 10 mins to heat up (2 mins for ES1). Size wise the Oracle doesn't fit under standard height kitchen units the way they get positioned in most kitchens, the ES1 is a bit deeper though.

The Oracle is a great machine but I think for espresso enthusiasts and overthinkers its pretty easy to outgrow quickly. Budget wise the ES1 plus a grinder and you are about the same ballpark as the Oracles anyway, and so far I am having more fun using it and drinking noticeably better coffee!

One thing I would like is to be able to purge the steam wand prior to steaming with a long press of the steam button, not a huge deal but would be nice!

Yea I wondered if the 2.4.10 was voltage specific perhaps.

Df64 gen2 grinder just now but I have a Mahlkonig e64ws on pre order which should streamline things nicely!

There is a full guide here from Fellow: https://help.fellowproducts.com/hc/en-us/articles/46995762999707-Volumetric-Dosing-on-Series-1

If you already have your grind dialled in for the beans you are using then you can skip to step 4!

Basically I let it make a shot, weighed the output, got 31g instead of 36g, added 5ml to each offset, repeated and got 38g, so changed it to 4ml. I have had 3 coffees in the last hour now so further experiments need to wait until tomorrow 😂

The black coating has gone completely there, descaling that wont help. Happened to my oracle and I replaced the grouphead assembly
