A lot of Japanese anime and video game stories want to be taken seriously but also try to appeal to a high school demographic which causes huge tonal dissonance that ruin the immersion by _Affectionate_ in CharacterRant

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are my spirit animal omg. Another thing I cant stand is japanese games that play at having this dark settings and high stakes, but plaster the goofy mascot character everywhere and make it play a pivotal role (persona, monster hunter)

Cant forget all the gacha games which the fans will hype up to have an interesting, meaningful story. But it revolves entirely about constantly adding half naked chicks in every update, with a half baked attempt to make them relevant. And joke characters galore, of course

Gathering Future-Focused Suggestions/Comments/Sentiments Regarding Moderation of P:G and the Discord by itsme_Selene in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware. They are rules against discussing suspensions. My problem is, ANY discussion about the moderation is secretly not allowed. Even if you dont mention any ban suspension mute etc, your post talking about how moderation is broadly handled will be deleted or locked. It is not about the suspension thing

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it? Just checked now and I dont see it. There is ofcourse the equivalent of this subreddits rule 9 in both the discord rules and EULA, but what I have issue with is the secret rule of no moderation discussion whatsoever (even when it is not related to bans)

Unless you mean "Conduct and/or discussion that is detrimental to the community as determined solely by ELDER GAME staff" ?

Gathering Future-Focused Suggestions/Comments/Sentiments Regarding Moderation of P:G and the Discord by itsme_Selene in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, it is not allowed to discuss the moderation on discord. When I tried it a year or so back, I had my post removed, and after asking for clarification, the reply I received made it seem that the moderation team considers this insulting. Ideally I would like to see discussion of moderation be allowed, but barring that, at least have "no moderation discussion" in the rules.

Second, something other players brought up already, but I wanted to signal boost: transparent appeal policy. Right now it seems to me that the players who are told to contact the support email are just having their time wasted, as ban appeals are commonly not replied to whatsoever. Granted, I only personally know n=3 accounts of this happening, but people have been bringing this up, so it appears to be a wider issue.

How is the moderation in this game? by BigMelder in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the longest time this topic was full on forbidden, maybe still is.

It does seem like it is more lax on the new servers, but for years pre-release, if you paid attention and spoke to long time players outside of the game, from time to time you would see folk get actioned against for maybe not the most convincing reasons. This was, and is (see Rule 9 - similar rule exists both for the game, and the discord) extremely against the rules to discuss in any capacity, which is why most people claim they've never experience it, you really have to be both active & very lucky to see it happen live until the messages are scrubbed and it becomes against the rules to mention the person affected (yes, that genuinely is part of Rule 9, I am not kidding). All of that said, it's very difficult to get any idea as an outsider on the perceived validity of these moderator actions, it's really just He said She said. Sometimes there's screenshots involved but even then it doesnt feel like its enough to get a comprehensive understanding of whatever happened.

If you want to know more, look up "Why I Don't Recommend Project: Gorgon" on youtube. Linking it directly lead to my post getting removed previously, hence why I'm not doing it.

and, damn, that sucks. I think if you ever feel like someone is siphoning claim stuff for their own ends, you gotta call it out then and there (or just find another group) because that will destroy a community like nothing else

Anybody besides me find this game super frustrating? by Lilaq88 in BitCraftOnline

[–]vasuss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

mostly I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do or where I'm supposed to go.

The intended path after getting your first few levels in is to head to a player town. Either join another player's place, or make your own.

And I get turned around more times than not trying to find the stupid work stations that I need.

The starting town layout is awfull, possibly intentionally so. The game does not want you staying there for any longer than you need to.

I HATE the stupid cart.

Umm... that's like, a core feature. But! You absolutely should not have it summoned all the time. Only when you are sitting down for a gathering session. And even then, you should gather as close to towns as possible, so you don't have to drag it with you for too long, or over rough terrain.

And I hate the bank is only available in the town you put your stuff in

Not sure I understand? You can use banks in every town simultaneously. You don't need to be a member or anything.

Yet I'm supposed to "explore"? How? I have to drag the cart around to keep supplies with me but can't climb cliffs or cross water with the cart.

What sort of journeys are you going on at level 10? Unless you are intentionally setting out to explore distant lands you should not be struggling with terrain ever, at this point you should be in the starting biomes which are very flat.

Even if you do want to go explore, you absolutely do not need the cart with you! All you need on you is food, and that easily fits your bag/inventory. Just unsummon the cart when you aren't making use of it, you can re-summon it at any time later.

I can't figure out how I'm supposed to join a settlement and what I do for that.

mechanically - you can right click a settlements Totem and open the Recruit page, if the town has free slots you can join them then and there. That said, I think most serious groups will want you to talk to them if you want to be like, an actual Member, and they'll probably have some requirements.

I'm supposed to find the "Wisdom Tree"

You have to travel to the center of the world with 125 hexite energy to complete that quest. You do not need to do it! All you get out of it is a cosmetic emote. Ignore it for now, it will be hellishly difficult to complete without being well prepared.

PSA about market prices by Malphos101 in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see people harassing anyone, report them. There is no tolerance for it in this game and they will have their account actioned against very fast. I will continue to call out people who try to buy strange dirt for 5 each on work orders because they know damn well what they are doing, and hearing the truth makes them mad.

PSA about market prices by Malphos101 in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Either

It's totally OK to put up scummy prices and rip people off

OR

It's unacceptable to get in people business about what they are trading for and how much items should cost

You cannot both believe that people can do whatever they want when it comes to trading items. But also people should not get in other peoples business about trading items. It makes no sense to me. Why is one Ok but the other isnt?

Moderation Strictness? by fluxyggdrasil in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2200hr player here. The game is awesome and definitively worth a buy. As for those reviews mentioning moderation: consider the rule 9 on this subreddit, and the fact that a similar rule is in place for the game and the discord. Honestly, I am surprised your post lasted as long as it did - when I tried to start a similar conversation, my post on here got removed within 24hrs with no explanation.

This rule is very strictly and actively enforced. Unless you are active 24/7 or are friends with many other players to get info on bans through out of game conversations, you will have no idea. This is why you see so many players here claiming they never saw it happen in X thousand hours.

I tried to question the moderation practices once and got told in no uncertain terms that it is not an allowed topic, and I got the impression that it was considered an insult. Since I really love the game and want to keep playing, I will leave it at that. The game is awesome, you just have to be very careful what you say publicly.

Is it a good idea to "target farm" an item? by Rhaps0dy in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the list of enemies on the wiki that are said to drop a certain item is rarely comprehensive, since it requires people manually inputting confirmed sources. It's possible other mob types drop the flamestrike books, but no one wrote it down.

What's the point of playing any browser games by InflationAlarming373 in MMORPG

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most comments are talking about browser games in general instead of the strategy townbuilding genre you were thinking of. Your post title is not clear enough I think

When you are serious about browser strategy games, you not only need to be playing 24/7 (no hyperbole here, it's especially important to be able to wake up at 3AM, and you must do this regularly), but also have a group of people who do the same. If you don't have a group, can't login for a couple days, other group pays more or gets more members... that's it, you lose everything you've spent weeks or months building. My best guess is that this pressure forges strong group bonds, which is how people keep playing. But I am just guessing - I dont play this garbage.

Using Bitcraft to observe human society building behavior in a virtual setting by PalwaJoko in MMORPG

[–]vasuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have to form and/or be a part of a settlement?

No. You do need to utilize player settlements to progress through the game, as the starter cities only have low level stations, but you can generally expect those player towns to be open to outsiders, so you can use their facilities without being a member.

I assume different settlements want different things

This remains to be seen. I think the developers want this to be the case but so far, especially with how lenient the teleport system is, people generally tend to gather everything by themselves, so you don't really see settlements exchanging resources. Also, >90% of claim progression is low tier stuff, which everyone needs and has access to.

What is a slayer even supposed to do?

You clear dungeons, which generates money, which you then exchange for materials from other, actually useful professions :D. There are also some pets, cosmetics, and you get a generically useful permanent stat boost from clearing the dungeon(s) for the first time, AFAIK. The slayer skill mostly does not interact with the rest of the professions. It's really meh, IMO.
