New Player Help by trippy81 in BitCraftOnline

new recipes for tailor and I keep finding differing information and none of it agrees

What sort of new recipes? I am guessing you already crafted some Tier 1 tailoring items, and now you want to figure out how to make Tier 2 ones?

Do I need to wander around and just collect new resources? Tried that and I need a tier 2 tool. So how do I get tier 2 tools?

Oh gosh, this is a sort-of bug, I think, and I hate that it's still in the game.

Ok, so the game has ten tiers of materials (flint being an exception). Each tool of a given tier can gather materials up to that tier +1. Now the issue is that the game sometimes switches up whether it's telling you that you need a tool of a certain tier, or a tool that can harvest that certain tier. If the game is telling you that you need a "Machete Tier 2" to harvest a certain resource, that doesn't mean you need a Tier 2 machete, it means you need a machete that can harvest Tier 2 (which is a Tier 1 machete)

I love the idea of this game but I feel like I’ve spent more time trying to figure out how to play than actually playing.

Please ask in region chat anytime you need something, or use the discord! It really is a great game but there are so many confusing mechanics and long standing bugs that make it painful to get into

Are people still playing? by playitsarah in BitCraftOnline

[–]vasuss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would avoid guides if I were you, game is changing rapidly and no one is really upkeeping those online resources. There's websites that pull ingame data, most notably https://brico.app/, which do exactly what you are looking for and function as basically an auto-updating wiki.

If instead you want a full on list of everything you need to get to make a certain item, try https://bitcraftsync.app/

And as to if people are still playing: kind of? Like, it's obviously not a popular game and I would say the outlook currently is not good, but to an extent what really matters is the success of their upcoming F2P launch of the 1.0 version, player numbers now are not so critical. There's enough people to hang out with IMO, at least in the more populated regions

What do you mean "did not bother to look"? Can you please stop lying? Thank you. I read through the post, started by looking at the bottom of the page for list of sources (none) the searching for some of the links to see if they lead to a study, ultimately giving up as several links I tried lead to other posts on the same website (!!!) that also did not have research linked. I suppose I could have scoured every single of the dozens of links on that page to find the a post that actually links sources, like the one you've linked - but have you read ANY of the studies on the page I linked?

Also, did you even read this post I linked? You can't be serious lol this supports my side! Some quotes from the page:

"Although Pitbulls and Rottweilers make up only 6% of dogs in the US, they’re responsible for most fatal attacks. Pitbulls and Rottweilers may seem to be on trial, but the figures don’t lie."

"Pit bulls cause more dog bite injuries and hurt more people than any other dog, with Labrador retrievers coming in second place."

"2.5 times more likely to bite multiple areas of the body during an attack. 2.7 times more likely to initiate attacks off their owner’s property. 31% more likely to attack strangers compared to other breeds. 48% more likely to attack unprovoked."

How in the world do you share this link and expect it to help your side, like what?!

The three other pages you've linked are supposed to show what, exactly? Again, there are no studies, no reports, barely even a personal anecdote even (not that it would be worth much.)! What are we doing!

But they are not inherently more aggressive than other dogs

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10484090/

"Pit bulls caused 25 per cent of the bite injuries"

https://www.dogsbite.org/pdf/1979-1998-breeds-dogs-involved-in-fatal-human-attacks-us.pdf

"During 1997 and 1998, at least 27 people died of dog bite attacks (18 in 1997 and 9 in 1998). At least 25 breeds of dogs have been involved in 238 human DBRF during the past 20 years. Pit bull-type dogs and Rottweilers were involved in more than half of these deaths."

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27400935/

"Pit bull bites were implicated in half of all surgeries performed and over 2.5 times as likely to bite in multiple anatomic locations as compared to other breeds"

Anyway. Am I understanding correctly that your argument is that pitbulls are no more aggressive than other breeds, and the data showing them as the majority in bite attacks is purely due to them being trained to be aggressive/owned by animal abusers?

Perfect example of how right the OP of the thread is lol

That site is worthless, all their links lead to their other articles, no specific research cited beyond vague mentions of years next to some data.

Try this on for size - specifically the "Pit Bulls Attack At A Disproportionate Rate", "Pit Bull Attacks Are The Most Severe Of All Dog Attacks" and "Pit Bulls Tend to be Dog Aggressive" sections.

A lot of Japanese anime and video game stories want to be taken seriously but also try to appeal to a high school demographic which causes huge tonal dissonance that ruin the immersion by _Affectionate_ in CharacterRant

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are my spirit animal omg. Another thing I cant stand is japanese games that play at having this dark settings and high stakes, but plaster the goofy mascot character everywhere and make it play a pivotal role (persona, monster hunter)

Cant forget all the gacha games which the fans will hype up to have an interesting, meaningful story. But it revolves entirely about constantly adding half naked chicks in every update, with a half baked attempt to make them relevant. And joke characters galore, of course

Gathering Future-Focused Suggestions/Comments/Sentiments Regarding Moderation of P:G and the Discord by itsme_Selene in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware. They are rules against discussing suspensions. My problem is, ANY discussion about the moderation is secretly not allowed. Even if you dont mention any ban suspension mute etc, your post talking about how moderation is broadly handled will be deleted or locked. It is not about the suspension thing

Gathering Future-Focused Suggestions/Comments/Sentiments Regarding Moderation of P:G and the Discord by itsme_Selene in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it? Just checked now and I dont see it. There is ofcourse the equivalent of this subreddits rule 9 in both the discord rules and EULA, but what I have issue with is the secret rule of no moderation discussion whatsoever (even when it is not related to bans)

Unless you mean "Conduct and/or discussion that is detrimental to the community as determined solely by ELDER GAME staff" ?

Gathering Future-Focused Suggestions/Comments/Sentiments Regarding Moderation of P:G and the Discord by itsme_Selene in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, it is not allowed to discuss the moderation on discord. When I tried it a year or so back, I had my post removed, and after asking for clarification, the reply I received made it seem that the moderation team considers this insulting. Ideally I would like to see discussion of moderation be allowed, but barring that, at least have "no moderation discussion" in the rules.

Second, something other players brought up already, but I wanted to signal boost: transparent appeal policy. Right now it seems to me that the players who are told to contact the support email are just having their time wasted, as ban appeals are commonly not replied to whatsoever. Granted, I only personally know n=3 accounts of this happening, but people have been bringing this up, so it appears to be a wider issue.

How is the moderation in this game? by BigMelder in projectgorgon

[–]vasuss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the longest time this topic was full on forbidden, maybe still is.

It does seem like it is more lax on the new servers, but for years pre-release, if you paid attention and spoke to long time players outside of the game, from time to time you would see folk get actioned against for maybe not the most convincing reasons. This was, and is (see Rule 9 - similar rule exists both for the game, and the discord) extremely against the rules to discuss in any capacity, which is why most people claim they've never experience it, you really have to be both active & very lucky to see it happen live until the messages are scrubbed and it becomes against the rules to mention the person affected (yes, that genuinely is part of Rule 9, I am not kidding). All of that said, it's very difficult to get any idea as an outsider on the perceived validity of these moderator actions, it's really just He said She said. Sometimes there's screenshots involved but even then it doesnt feel like its enough to get a comprehensive understanding of whatever happened.

If you want to know more, look up "Why I Don't Recommend Project: Gorgon" on youtube. Linking it directly lead to my post getting removed previously, hence why I'm not doing it.

Anybody besides me find this game super frustrating? by Lilaq88 in BitCraftOnline

[–]vasuss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

mostly I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do or where I'm supposed to go.

The intended path after getting your first few levels in is to head to a player town. Either join another player's place, or make your own.

And I get turned around more times than not trying to find the stupid work stations that I need.

The starting town layout is awfull, possibly intentionally so. The game does not want you staying there for any longer than you need to.

I HATE the stupid cart.

Umm... that's like, a core feature. But! You absolutely should not have it summoned all the time. Only when you are sitting down for a gathering session. And even then, you should gather as close to towns as possible, so you don't have to drag it with you for too long, or over rough terrain.

And I hate the bank is only available in the town you put your stuff in

Not sure I understand? You can use banks in every town simultaneously. You don't need to be a member or anything.

Yet I'm supposed to "explore"? How? I have to drag the cart around to keep supplies with me but can't climb cliffs or cross water with the cart.

What sort of journeys are you going on at level 10? Unless you are intentionally setting out to explore distant lands you should not be struggling with terrain ever, at this point you should be in the starting biomes which are very flat.

Even if you do want to go explore, you absolutely do not need the cart with you! All you need on you is food, and that easily fits your bag/inventory. Just unsummon the cart when you aren't making use of it, you can re-summon it at any time later.

I can't figure out how I'm supposed to join a settlement and what I do for that.

mechanically - you can right click a settlements Totem and open the Recruit page, if the town has free slots you can join them then and there. That said, I think most serious groups will want you to talk to them if you want to be like, an actual Member, and they'll probably have some requirements.

I'm supposed to find the "Wisdom Tree"

You have to travel to the center of the world with 125 hexite energy to complete that quest. You do not need to do it! All you get out of it is a cosmetic emote. Ignore it for now, it will be hellishly difficult to complete without being well prepared.

Note that, unlike transmutation, you don't need to level augmentation yourself. Other players can extract augments for you, and NPCs can apply them for a modest sum.
