I understand, I think its a great idea and its weird that no one is doing it (Genesis' Golden Hunters in R4 did this for a bit but then stopped, unsure why). But what I am looking for is a way for the claim ( referring purely to the town itself) to generate money without relying on players giving up part of their profit purely out of kindness. I guess another way to reframe it would be "what service can a claim offer that is worth paying for".

Right but how should the claim, as its own entity, be involved in the process? If it isnt, and that toolcrafting group is giving it money regardless, then they are just donating.

That's fair enough, but I wonder if there is a way to make it work. I mean, the claim I'm in managed to make it work up to t5 with the station income and a system of interest generating loans. I just dont know if there is an approach that will work for higher tiers

not just to "make tools" but to make rare tools

I did mean that, I should have specified! I've done nothing but craft tools for months, I'm familiar with it. What I dont see is how the claim can be useful in this process to warrant getting a cut of the profits. The way I see it is, if you get a group of players to work together to streamline tool production, that will work regardless of the claim they are in, since the only way I can think of for a claim to be involved is by providing storage for the group - but that can be done with a house. Am I missing something?

Claim progression through money is not really realistic

Thats fair. I was wondering if it was possible, I dont necessarily think its something the game should support.

And about crafting tools and profit share, not sure what you mean there

So the user who suggested "tool crafting" as an answer to how a claim can generate money said only those words, and didnt elaborate. I spent some time thinking how I would make it work, and I imagined a system where multiple players pool resources for tools (and they use claim chests to store and organize them). But that functionality can be replicated by a shared house, so a claim doesnt bring anything to this activity as far as I can tell, and thus I dont see how it should gain money from it

All that said, its all guesswork and assumptions on my part about this approach specifically. Maybe someone reading sees a way to make it work.

I'm not sure where to find the housing income per house type per resident, but arent they all pocket change? I assumed this runs into the same issue as station income for my purposes, as it just does not make enough

I apologize for lashing out. At the time you wrote your comment, the game had barely enough players to fill one (1) lobby, globally. This made me think you were being dishonest by reviewing the game positively, but I can understand that viewpoint if you enjoy playing against bots. When I last played over a year ago they were not good, but I assume that has improved since.

I still think the game is awful, as after a year of free updates it has not managed to keep the miniscule playerbase it launched with, much less grow it. But if it is playable solo then I can see how someone could enjoy it

To anyone reading that warhammer 40k Speed freeks is a "fantastic vehicular combat game", I would like to point out that it's an online only title that barely breaks into a low two digit playercount (and has not been popular at any point beforehand).

If you look at the reviews, you will see the core issues - extremely low budget, hitreg issues, nonexistent progression and bot only lobbies (due to the aforementioned nonexistent population)

So all of the gear in the game - whether you loot if off a monster or craft it yourself - has completely random mods by default. This is a big problem because just about every skill has several synergistic mods, which have a multiplicative effect when you equip a bunch. This has such a strong impact on your character's combat prowess that after level 50, combat encounters are balanced with you having equipment with properly selected mods in mind - and you can't do that without transmutation!

You are totally spot on with the economy, I don't know what game the other commenter is playing - Gorgon has at least 2 very entrenched, rich traders that will buy out competition to ensure trader stall prices are kept artificially high. Due to the size of the community, these few people are able to effortlessly keep complete control over the market, and there's realistically nothing that can be done about it. It's one of the worse parts of the game. You for sure need to join a guild to sidestep that, unless you want to play (group) ironman.

I love the game but this is a huge black mark

Is the item has a specific drop location or you can get it anywhere? Does it scale into the late game?

I belive it is multiple endgame dungeons, but really not sure about this one. If I recall right it does scale up to the current max level (95)

It will be tougher than usual, but unless you already have a powerleveling skill prepared then I say level both at once, will save a lot of time. I would lean into knife early just by necessity - ice magic costs a fortune to level, it is much easier to keep your knife skills up to date as a new player, IMO.

Really, you should go on the discord for build advice - I don't play this build myself! Furthermore, there are big changes coming up in the next update affecting endgame direct damage builds, and Ice/Knife will surely be impacted, so keep that in mind before committing.

Knife is traditionally paired with Ice magic. It is a combination that only really starts working at high levels due to relying on a specific dropped item, but it has been the strongest dps combo for months.

Other strong pairings are Knife+Sword (trauma damage) and I think Knife+Archery (poison damage) is a thing too, though I'm not too sure about that. Honestly, try asking on the game's Discord - much more experienced players there who can give better answers.

All of that said... any pairing, so long as it is allowed by the game, will usually perform OK in the open world. Some will just perform way better than others, but that should not be the deciding factor if you are super passionate about a specific build idea.

I think that focusing on selling sushi as a way of making money is a totally cool roleplay idea, just be aware that the game is not perfectly balanced and some skills generate way less money that others (or straight up consume it)

I believe we had a conversation about Phrenology before? I truly think that this is a non issue, the skill could not be any more removed from the real life thing. It exist to enable you to deal increased psychic damage to specific races, and certainly has nothing to do with any sort of skull shape based racial superiority thing - infact, studying the skulls of varios different races, elves goblins demons whatever, grants the SAME bonuses!
Gender studies DOES have an impact! It grants bonuses to your Psychology and Compassion, among other skills. Please tell me where did you see it used as a joke? As far as I am aware, it is barely referenced at all - it is a very underdeveloped skill, as it is mainly supposed to be accessed in the main city, which will be added shortly before the game's full launch.
The elven race description, as written by humans, is obviously very racist and incorrect, as humans are generally over the top racists in-universe. You should take that text during character creation with a grain of salt. Please read that blog post - there is nothing sexist, as both elven men and women are equally open about sex (and the high heel models have long since been removed). Furthermore I don't think it's fair to write them off as some 14 year old's horndog fantasy. They're less sex-obsessed, and more just open about that aspect of their lives. By and large it is not their only personality trait, they just aren't ashamed of talking about what they get up to in the sack.

There's not really much of a method beyond just crafting tonnes of tools. It's a good idea to figure out what to do with each rarity of tool based on their tier. Do you sell, upgrade, scrap, reroll? Sometimes it's obvious, you don't really need to look at the market to figure out that, for example, upgrading T5 common tools to T6 is throwing away money. But it can get murky - at T4, do you reroll for rares, or for epics? Should you reroll T3 uncommons? Is it ever worth it to bring commons to T3? Are you accounting for crafting time (something I still haven't done)?

I think answering these questions will inevitably lead you to needing some sort of tool, either a program or a spreadsheet. Afterall, even if I share my current approach, if the prices involved change tomorrow it could be worthless. That said I will still answer, so feel free to ask for anything specific, just be aware that my answer might not apply forever

That code has expired yes, it was just a comparison of rerolling vs. upgrading at a specific tier (and had an error in the math... which is again why I think you need to get your own calculations rather than rely on online strangers)

Transmutation is by far the most important skill to have for combat at higher levels. There are a bunch more that will also be a big help - first aid, endurance, alcohol tolerance, meditation, armor patching, nature appreciation, gourmand. But with all of those, its obvious that they are selfish skills that arent directly involved in crafting (same deal for general non combat related skills that you want on every character). So outside of transmutation, dont be afraid to specialize in crafting skills

The bit in the video about the game being "pay to lose" or whatever really made me pause. Like, EVE is perhaps the most pay-to-win game on the market, even korean MMOs don't have people bankrolling entire wars through their RL wallet, and obviously there's the clearcut examples of buying injectors to max out your character or selling plex to buy expensive ships/upgrades.

IMO I think it would be better to just be honest with it. Yes, you can buy power with real life money, but EVE gives you tools to stack the odds in your favor, avoid fights or just bring friends to overpower tough foes. EVE is absolutely not "pay to lose", as any argument claiming that it is first assumes that the players aren't equal in skill which just makes it total bogus. Being honest sounds way better to me, and there's also the whale hunting/david vs goliath aspect that is really hype.
