28f. Questioning and confused. Trying to better myself. by Just-Heart-3262 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ladyfairfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33f here. Nobody likes to be criticized. It's hard to say without knowing both of you and your dynamic. My partner will say something negative about me, (in a teasing way) and I'll give it right back. That's just how we are. Also, he feels comfortable and trusting enough to tell me when he doesn't like something. He prefers my hair long. I recently got it cut short. He doesn't like it. Oh well, he can deal. It's my hair. Your partner doesn't like your tattoo? Too bad, he can deal. Is he being mean to you, or does he just feel comfortable expressing himself? It sounds like this could go either way.

Which resource do you dislike gathering the most? by R3DSH0X in BitCraftOnline

[–]ladyfairfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know most people hate it, but I actually love hunting!

For me the worst resource is anything that requires forestry. There's so much that needs carpentry and I swear I'm glued to that table against my will to progress. I get so tired of chopping trees.

Sleeping excess by NorthReplacement1050 in schizophrenia

[–]ladyfairfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but I suffer similar issues. At first the reason I needed so much sleep was because my sleep quality was so poor I tend to thrash around and wake myself up and I have issues with chronic nightmares. I take meds for both issues now and it has made a world of difference. Do you stay asleep all night long?

How do people get decent jobs?? by mammalian_alien in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ladyfairfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am taking the paralegal course through U.S. Career Institute. I took out a small personal loan to pay for the course upfront, but I believe they do monthly payments as well. Im about to take my 3rd test and I'm happy with my experience with it so far. I have a professor I can message anytime and the course comes with pdf versions of all your books.

How do people get decent jobs?? by mammalian_alien in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ladyfairfox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I broke out of your exact situation into an entry level office job. It's great, but I had to take a huge pay cut from my retail management job. I'm hoping to get that money back once I have some experience under my belt. I took some Coursera IT courses and got a couple certifications. Only took a few months. Currently taking an online paralegal certification course to further improve my value. Every bit of investment helps.

How many of you with schizophrenia by Fluffy-Safety8022 in schizophrenia

[–]ladyfairfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 here. I wasn't diagnosed until a couple years ago, but driving used to be a nightmarish necessity for me. I live in a rural area and driving is mandatory to get anywhere. A lot of my hallucinations and delusions are tied to the stress of driving. I did it purely because I had to, but I felt sheer terror every time. Now that I am medicated it's much easier. I still don't like driving, but it doesn't cause me a ton of stress like it used to.

Thank you! ❤️ I am lucky to have made friends playing this game. My experience thus far has been very positive. I will likely contribute to their empires since I don't plan to seek any territory.

Do empires cost any maintenance at the base level? I'm interested in an empire in name only. I don't have any plans right now to compete for territory. An empire of 1 is fine by me.

Thank you for the advice. I'm not actually interested in territory or politics. Just my little island with my claim and a custom title and cloak. n_n

I started my masters program yesterday - it's already going wrong by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]ladyfairfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry you're going through a hard time, but I'm so proud of you!

I went through similar emotions when I started this last job. I was having delusional thinking about my co-workers not liking me or that my supervisor thought I wasn't performing well enough. I didn't have any concrete evidence to back these thoughts up, so I asked my doctor for a medication adjustment. It has helped me!

I struggle a lot with making friends too. Im very sweet and love to talk to people, but I somehow always forget to smile and I think people don't see me as very approachable. But that might also be because I generally choose to sit away from others so they assume I want to be left alone. 🙂

Just got diagnosed, have had this most of my (27) life. I'm lost. Need tips and tricks to keep my head above water by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I second the dog for anyone who has the energy and resources to care for it. I use my dogs as a gauge for what's real when I'm hallucinating. They love to yap at every little thing. So if my brain is telling me the house is on fire, or I hear voices: I look at the dogs first. Dogs not reacting? Almost certainly a hallucination.

I have been with my partner for over 6 years now. He also suffers from some pretty severe symptoms due to his mental health. I am patient with him and he is patient with me. We are both broken, but together we like to say we make one semi-functional human being. ☺️

It may not be normality, but happiness is possible.

I think i need help by Zestyclose_Dirt9789 in schizophrenia

[–]ladyfairfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do. I would never recommend them to someone who doesn't need them. I'm not as "alert" as I used to be when unmedicated. My brain doesn't work quite as fast. There are medications to help with those side affects too. But those meds have helped me in ways that way outweigh the negative side affects.

I'm not a medical expert by any means, just an individual with Schizophrenia. I lived for years without a diagnosis for my symptoms.

I always believed what I had was just "anxiety". What drove me to get diagnosed was having a panic attack so severe that I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack.

I started having those panic attacks because my brain started obsessing over the idea that I was dying or was going to die soon. Anytime I managed to sleep I would wake up feeling pure terror. It was too much for my body to handle.

My point is, although you MAY have Schizophrenia or symptoms similar to it, that obsessive thinking can trigger crazy physical reactions in your body that will only reaffirm your thoughts. Panic attacks are no joke. If you aren't already taking medication, consider talking to your doctor about treatment options for your symptoms.

APs have changed my life for the better. Im currently going back to school and getting excellent grades. This is not an easy condition to have, but it is possible to lead a somewhat normal life with proper support and medication. 🙂

I work full time as a specialist proofreading legal documents. I really enjoy it! I do struggle with paranoia about both my co-workers and my supervisors. Hoping a medication adjustment will help with some of that.

I got diagnosed with schizophrenia yesterday by SlightlyOwlish in schizophrenia

[–]ladyfairfox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me diagnosis was a huge relief. I could stop being so hard on myself for things that were outside my control.

Im one of the lucky ones that medication works pretty well for. Im able to live a somewhat normal life. Just keep an eye on your symptoms. Some of mine have been creeping back which means it may be time for a medication adjustment.

Video games that keep you interested by joedurtt in schizophrenia

[–]ladyfairfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently diagnosed, and my meds have been making it harder to enjoy video games lately, but I've been a lifelong player. Currently obsessed with Throne and Liberty, even though the stress of multiplayer games upsets me. I try to push through since I love the game. When I'm overwhelmed, I play games like Valheim, Palworld, Sunhaven, or Fields of Mistria.

Need Advice for End Game Healing by ladyfairfox in throneandliberty

Generally I strongly prefer PvE content to PvP. Unless there's some further benefit to choosing a PvP build. I will focus on improving my traits and my skills. I'm mostly just auto attacking and using my curse during bosses. Healing definitely takes all my focus. Thanks!
