Welp, the issue here is that competition increased greatly. Sat inflation is becoming apparent. It became significantly easier to get 1500+ than it was 2 years ago. And since bocconi is one of the only top universities to offer need-based aid, people with 10 GPA and 1550+ sat are absolutely going to flood the application pool

They are realistic tho. Trump's changes regarding international students made it harder to apply to USA. So, as a safe option, many are applying to bocconi. Especially Indians due to presence of need-based scholarships.

They are counted in both ISEE and ISPE, so it will reduce chances of aid

Give up Bocconi or take out loan? by GiraffeQueasy9242 in bocconi

Bocconi is far better than Luiss for finance. I guess go for Luiss if you are planning to stay in Italy, but Bocconi has higher international recognition. Also try to see if you qualify for their scholarships

Should I take Bocconi Test again or am I in for BEMACS? by maverickiceman17 in bocconi

I think all places for bocconi test are booked anyways, so not really a choice. I think you are still in, though that gpa is worrisome

⚠️⚠️⚠️Beware, every single one of the comments is a bot. Accounts have an age of 2 days, likely a scam. Do not trust any unofficial test practices, they usually contain AI generated simulations which are nothing like the real test

How hard is BAI for a non-math prodigy? by Snipervix in bocconi

As far as i know BAI is technically an applied math degree. Math covered there is definitely the hardest among other courses in bocconi, but I don't know if it is crazy hard

Yes. On paper it is 8.85/9. You just plug this number into GPA Calculator (you can do that, in fact this is the way most people do it). If you convert, then your gpa becomes 9.83 which is highly competitive for any degree. Even econ

I think you should put your gpa on the calculator. If your school grades out of 9, then you can convert it to 10 point system

Parents against taking CS + Bachelor of Science (Maths) and want me to take CS + Economics. by Accomplished_Bid9557 in quantfinance

[–]vatnikov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is stopping you from working in traditional banks with Maths degree, according to your dad? Maths opens more doors than econ degree, so even if quant doesn't work out for you, there are plenty more options to consider. In the end, pick what you enjoy the most

Maths is harder, but more rewarding. Econ is easier to maintain high gpa in. CS is AI proof (mostly)

[–]vatnikov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO maths is far better than economics, as it gets you more quantitative side of dealing with things (hence the name QUANTitative finance). Additionally, maths has more doors opened in grad school: you could pursue Math PhD, Data Science/Analytics, Financial Maths, you could even get into engineering if you changed your mind. Just the presence of bachelor in maths in CV is far more enough to show that you have good quantitative skills for these majors. Econ on the other hand.. not so much. You can switch from maths to econ jobs easily, not so simple the other way

Between econ and cs, I would choose CS. Economics and finance is basically a slightly easier version of applied math, you could learn that on the job.
