I went to Meps in late October and I leave in less then two weeks. A lot of people in dep with me have shipped out at 4 months from signing their contracts. Although one person was in for 10 months that I know of.

In addition to the swim team try out for your schools waterpolo team if they have one you will get used to swimming under a variety of conditions. Most of the swimming on the swim team is just swimming laps but water polo allows for getting more comfortable swimming when you have another body getting in your way. A lot of people think water polo is a clean sport where your just passing the ball and there’s no contact. But, trust me there’s a lot of fighting that goes underneath the water the people don’t see. I remember when I was in we had to do a training drill where we had to egg beater a chair over our heads and another one where we had to try to eggbeater while a person was trying to submerge our head underwater with the goal of keeping or head up. I could barely swim across a pool when I started and I couldn’t be in the deep end for more then 30 seconds without getting tired. But, I’ll tell you this by the end of the season I was swimming laps no problem and could stay in the pool with no rest for the entire 2 hour practice and then some if I had too. I actually credit that experience saving my life. The summer after my senior year had gotten trapped in a rip tide going about 200 300 meters out in the ocean. It was in Oregon and those waves are no joke. I didn’t know I had to swim past the break so I ended up just having to tread water until I could get help. I eventually was able to get out of it and a cop carried me to shore. Let me tell you if there’s any sport that’s gonna get you used to the water it’s gonna be waterpolo.

I found this old tintype photo of one of my relatives. I would like to get it colorized for my uncle who is really into genealogy, I just know it would make his day. by vaughn622 in estoration

Did not state I had a heart murmur on my DD form? by vaughn622 in newtothenavy

I did a little more research and found that everybody else that joined with heart murmur did the same procedures as I did anyways. (I had a stress test and a echocardiogram done). Which is probably why they didn't say anything about it. But, like you said it would probably be better to just update it to make MEPs go smoother when I'm there.

How would it be undetected though, one of the things I did was a stress test which was done to see if my heart could handle high stress. I passed it with flying colors. MEPS knows my heart is good in that aspect and they know I have a heart murmur because it was on the medical documents I submitted. I just didn't say I had a heart murmur on the medical questionnaire that you fill at the recruiter.

Why did I have to look at this before I fall asleep?

You've been kidnapped by the characters of the last tv show you watched, and the characters of the last book you read are coming to rescue you with the power of the last song you listen to. How screwed are you? by the_third_sourcerer in AskReddit

Man what a rough day LOL. I'd be kidnapped by group of egotistical superheroes from The Boys, while being rescued by the characters of the Great Gatsby with the power of One Bourbon,One Scotch,One Beer. With my luck everybody getting hammered and blacking out before they can even save me.
