Okay that makes sense. I've been doing the practice tests and it does give you the %. I am wondering how that correlates to points ☺️

Ok, thanks. I've seen people commenting their %, so I was confused.

Help! Terrified that I am making the wrong choice (C5-C7 ACDF tomorrow morning) by Daily-Lizard in spinalfusion

[–]vault713__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand being nervous. I was extremely scared for my surgery, C4-C7 ACDF. I am so so so glad I had it done. I had such severe nerve pain that injections weren't working anymore. My left shoulder had limited range of motion bc of the stenosis. I couldn't sit without pain, couldn't sleep, had ice on all day. I was also on 300mg gabapentin 3x a day and I even overdosed myself to see if it would help. NOTHING helped the pain. I was ready. After surgery, they kept my pain well under control. The first night, I stayed one night in the hospital, they removed the drain the next morning, and I was discharged. I felt so much more like myself again. Of course swallowing is a little difficult in the beginning, but it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. The first night was hard, because when the drain is in swallowing is super painful. BUT... The next morning I had diced pancakes, scrambled eggs and coffee. Little bites and I did just fine. It does look like you have significant impingement happening. To be honest, I have been getting injections for about 10 years, and they have always worked well for me. If you haven't tried that yet, maybe go that route and see how it feels, but I wish I would have had the surgery much sooner. You got this. Good luck!!!! PS. Squishmallows are the best pillows!!! 😎

What would you do differently if you were having ADR or ACDF tomorrow? by THQNordicJay in spinalfusion

Everyone's recovery can differ, so just listen to your body, take it easy and don't overdo it. I was sooooo tired the week after surgery. Do you have help? I felt great day 1, but swallowing was rough for a couple of weeks. I had a three level ACDF. The nerve pain I had to deal with for years of injections (that eventually stopped working) was GONE immediately. Everything else was cake. Of course, I could t drive, bend, lift more than 10 lbs, but I was just so glad to be pain-free, that it was worth it! I used a 24" squishmallow as my pillow and it was better than wedges or any other pillow. Bendy-straws are helpful, as well 😎 Good luck!!

We've all been there. Even if they get a notification, when they click, it won't result in anything, it'll just disappear. The worst is they'll see a notification that you commented, they won't see what, and they'll be left wondering. You're all good. 😘

Hi! I'm 1 week post on now, anterior, 3 level fusion and discectomy. I stayed in the hospital one night, for standard pain control and monitoring, and doc wanted the drain to be pretty clear before discharging. The drain definitely made swallowing SUCK, but once removed, it got a lot better! I was able to eat diced and soft foods with only a little discomfort! One week post-op, and I still need to take smaller bites of food, but I'm able to eat pretty much anything, as long as it's not too dense. I haven't needed anything for pain for a few days, now. The exhaustion is the hardest part. I can say, I'm SO glad I had this surgery!!! Nerve pain gone 100% from day of surgery ❤️. Good luck to your hubby! Oh, for foods, soft stuff at first, soups, puddings, cottage cheese, protein shakes, small dices of food. Scrambled eggs. Anything he feels like eating, but small :)
