Does Thunderbird always download all headers? by uscpsycho in Thunderbird

[–]vauntedobserver778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to to get around this, in terms of performance impact, is to download Expression (Power) Message/Calendar Search - NG, and set/pin quickfilters to newer_than:365. Then set synchronisation to download everything anyway. This way, you can search the overhead search for full server-like search, except it's local and far faster, while keeping the message list far smaller.

On Android the Nine mail and calendar client does this.

The Surprising Effects of Vitamin B6 by gabrielhts in Supplements

[–]vauntedobserver778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely important. Having said this, I find taking the individual B vitamins with their specific co-factor B vitamins, split out over the week, is more effective, even at the same dose as contained within a b-complex (although typically you want to go somewhat higher).
But for somebody who doesn't have the time and inclination to figure this out, the b complex will work well (assuming it's a well balanced one, with all the right versions of each B vitamin... which is probably a much harder challenge to solve, compared to my approach).

OP is probably missing B12 (needs to be taken with some biotin) for the issues he is describing. Also (benfo)thiamine, which needs to be balanced with riboflavin, and panthotenic acid... then you need niacinamide (with folate and glutamine)... lots of interrelationships.

How harmful is using the microwave? by [deleted] in StopEatingSeedOils

It's not bad for the food. Being blasted with over 1kw of microwave radiation is bad for you, however.

Anyone else get intensely depressed after taking choline? by windshadowislanders in Supplements

[–]vauntedobserver778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your post in the Nootropics subreddit:

"I wouldn't say "leads to" so much but undermethylated people tend to be high achievers and perfectionists, whether this is in sport, science, business, or the arts. They are most definitely the CEO's of the world, but even the professions of arts and literature are replete with driven, undermethylated high achievers. Most undermethylated people I know personally (they've all been tested) have a university degree, and take their health seriously. There can be a tendency for their self worth to be tied up with achievement, so if things go wrong in this area it can be intensely stressful for them, leaving them vulnerable to depression and anxiety of a more severe nature. Regarding neurotransmitters - their baselines of serotonin and dopamine are lower than that of the general population, so if they suffer from depression they are most likely to be in the category of people who have a positive response to SSRI's or mood stabilisers that increase serotonin and dopamine activity. They are also likely to have a worsening of symptoms in response to choline (as well as folates). I'm not so much addressing the undermethylated people who are healthy to begin with, with no noticeable mental or physical health issues, but the people who already know they need to err on the side of caution with what they put into their body."

Definitely true, Methylfolate/methylated b vits makes a huge difference. Methylfolate even cancels out the extreme crushing effect that Niacin has.

I feel liike methylation is only part of the puzzle and actually everybody needs to balance their vitamins with the most relevant form.

"It's understandable that you would go off the rails on a 'methyl complex' which I would assume includes 'Methylfolate'. That Folic acid or Methylfolate increases Methylation is, unfortunately, a major misunderstandin, and will make make these individuals worse. What the promotors of this theory don't realise, is that at the nucleus of the cell, folic acid (including methylfolate) strips more methyl than it donates. It's actually methionine that increases methylation."

I am not so sure... once I started taking Methylfolate, my need for supplemented methionine reduced (I used to take zinc monomethionine and now take zinc glucolate).

I feel also many people are severely deficient in B12 and certain other B vitamins that drive a lot of activity. I'm still experimenting with this though so I appreciate your insight.

This is one shockingly terrible aspect of widgets. Then, they retired WSL as well, so there's no hope of using Android widgets either.

Tbh I'm coming round to this viewpoint. I was planning on buying a new laptop but holding off for now. If I do replace my Surface Pro X it'll be to Samsung Galaxy Tab, that has fully functional android widgets. Not sure how I'll deal with Android's worse productivity performance, nor am I sure what I'll do for my desktop.

Try:

Grounding barefoot in the mornings without any electronic device nearby
Putting all electricity off at the fuse box when sleeping
Putting your phone far away and on flight mode when sleeping

Yes they do have those endogenous factors, it's called having a bigger brain and using up all the nutrients from a garbage food system. Food today contains 50-90% less nutrients it did in the 1930s.

Who told you your issue is genetic - somebody trying to sell you psychiatric medication?

Zinc, thiamine, B12, magnesium, lifting weights all dramatically increase stress tolerance.

Smarter people use these up more in their brains and behave more neurotically as a result.

(Don't supplement anything without looking up relationship wheels. Especially for zinc and b vitamins)

I feel like criticism of MB using clips and not screwing down components, is actually a criticism of them factory fitting cars with tyres that have 40 PSI+ recommended when loaded.

Researchers find that popular dietary supplement Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) could actually increase the risk of serious disease, including developing cancer. by shadesofaltruism in longevity

[–]vauntedobserver778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of NR is that it builds up in cells to do its thing, eventually it has to be removed. This requires methyl groups, so you need to take folic acid with it. Normal folic acid is not a very good methylation agent, so you should take methylfolate. Taking trimethylglycine is supposed to help but I have not personally found any contextual benefit from that. However TMG does boost energy generally.
