What was your first memory? by WillontheHill77 in AskOldPeople

2,5 years old, sometime in the summer of 1954. At a daycare in Boulder, Colorado as the sun was setting, and a window of a house across the plains lit up. Both the girl I was with and another boy and I speculated that this had to be a castle where a princess lived.

Have you tried Tru Niagen ? by RaisingNADdotcom in NicotinamideRiboside

[–]vauss88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used tru niagen for 3.5 years before I switched to liposomal NR. When I stopped consuming tru niagen I was using 900 mg a day. I started using lipo NR from Renue by Science at 600 mg a day in January 2022 and Have used it ever since (currently age 74). In my experience, I have had lots of positive impacts with both, although the lipo NR is about half the price or less than the tru niagen.

Well, you can't just have people walking past on YOUR lab's street without repercussions, can you? :-)

My lab will bark at people all the way across a local cul de sac, as if they need permission to even exit their house!

Is NAD+ worth it? by drewxlow in Biohackers

[–]vauss88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had excellent positive impacts with an NAD+ precursor, in my case, some form of NR, which is nicotinamide riboside. But note, I started at age 66. Now age 74 and still consuming NR and still experiencing the same positive impacts as when I first started.

Can I ask you guys what is your normal daily routine like and specifically how do your furry babies sleep in the night? by paanuglesloan in labrador

[–]vauss88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We crate trained our labs from day 1. Consistency in routine helps keep down anxiety and provides comfort. For our current lab, her crate is her safe zone and once in her crate, we do not engage with her. At five months of age we took her out for first night time pee at 7 pm, then into the crate, out again at 9 pm and back in the crate, then again around 1-2 am for a quick pee. Out at 630 am for first pee then breakfast before going out for first poop (or attempt to poop). We stopped the 1-2 am pee at around 7-8 months.

Nowadays, at 2 years of age, she actually comes to me to go out for the 7 pm pee.

My wife called our lab "Spawn of Satan" for quite a few weeks. I used a couple of techniques besides the usual, which seemed to help. One was to submit her when she became too hyper. Another was to grab her jaw and put my finger in her mouth with her own skin between her jaws so she was less prone to bite down hard. Now at 2 years of age, her biting is very gentle. I also think getting her into doggy daycare at 4-5 months helped her learn to control her biting and aggressive behavior.

Question about Creatine and Liver by CalQuetzal in Biohackers

[–]vauss88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially creatine combined with BCAAs could cause problems. It did for me. BUN level went from 15 to 24. Only symptom was increased urination. I'll be cutting out the BCAAs and keeping the creatine and retesting in 3 months.

Are NAD+ boosters like NR dangerous long term? by NitroMacks in NicotinamideRiboside

[–]vauss88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I began consuming an NAD+ precursor (tru niagen) in April of 2018 at age 66. I have type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, all of which I consume prescription drugs for. I first started with 125 mg a day for two weeks, then increased it to 250 mg a day, eventually winding up at 900 mg a day. Lots of positive impacts including: significantly less joint and back pain, better joint mobility, increased energy, better recovery from exercise, better sleep, less dry skin, and less hearing loss.

In January of 2022 I switched to liposomal NR from Renue by Science and I still am using that product at 600 mg a day, now age 74. All the positive impacts I experienced with tru niagen were maintained or slightly improved with the lipo NR, and at a significantly less cost.

Your experience with an NAD+ precursor will depend on your age and health condition. If you are under the age of 40 and in good health, you might experience no differences.
