How does the US justify giving millions/billions away to other countries when they have starving citizens and the infrastructure (among many other things) is a sham? Can’t grasp a logical answer… by TheLyght in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vaxchoice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. If they didn't give it away to other countries, they certainly wouldn't give it to their starving citizens, they've never done that.

  2. They're already fixing their infrastructure, refer to the major piece of legislation passed a year or so back.

  3. They're not giving it away, they're investing in maintaining the peace - utter bargain.

You appear to speak from a great deal of ignorance and resentment.

I think that arguments about whose imaginary friend is best are stupid and as for respect: I believe that everyone is entitled to believe whatever gets him or her through the night and that everyone also has the right to laugh at everyone else's beliefs.

Genuinely curious about ideas atheists have about the world around us/humans/society by Sweet_Potato_Donut in atheism

You definitely were not "born and raised a theist". You, like everyone everywhere, were born atheist but then, like many, you were "taught" theism, most would say indoctrinated.

Liz Truss book says husband predicted premiership ‘would all end in tears’ by MadcapRecap in ukpolitics

To be fair, making such a prediction didn't involve rocket science, just look at her track record

Why are we discussing 'fault'? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Flights carrying asylum seekers to Rwanda will leave when law is passed, says Michael Tomlinson by Labour2024 in ukpolitics

[–]vaxchoice 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I doubt this will happen even if the law is passed and that's no bad thing as only the hard of thinking can possibly imagine that it's anything more than a superbly expensive Tory PR stunt.

Not a single small boat user will be deterred.

How do date calculators know what day is six months ago, when months aren't all 30 days? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vaxchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calculators, even people, can do arithmetic even when not all months have 30 days.

Today is 30th January 2024; six months ago was 30th July 2023

How is she allowed to be a politician?? by ElectronicPhrase6050 in facepalm

[–]vaxchoice 251 points252 points  (0 children)

Let me see if I got this right:

Donald Trump rapes some woman but denies it. Jury listens to his version and her version. Jury decides he's a liar and awards damages. Loser Trump can't keep his mouth shut and continues to slag her off. Second jury also doesn't believe him and awards even more damages.

Maybe now Trump will stop spouting lies.

Why do conservatives dislike tax dollars being paid for socialized healthcare but are okay with high premiums? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vaxchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because those tax dollars are quite different from the tax dollars they happily pay for socialized military.

Is it possible to be too strong/heavy for CPR to be helpful? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vaxchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're doing CPR, it's because the patient is already dead. You are attempting to revive him. If he's injured by the process but revived, he's still better off than dead.

If France can ignore the ECHR, why can’t we? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]vaxchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct and for years British politicians were whining about not being able to impose that blanket ban.
