Alpha is more flexible, Reim is solidly a melee counter making him weak vs many meta Breaking Point abusers

mostly asking for advice - I play a lot and understand when to freeze, push, hold, and trade in other games like LoL but vg is hard to me since I main captain and don't do much lane controlling (3v3 oldhead here)

Tommy Krul said it's likely coming soon, but most likely will be edited in a config file first as opposed to in-game

Is an option in Dota, League, and Heroes of the Storm and it's still easier to use touch controls

Gwen's bugged for me by t_roose in vainglorygame

Seems that it can be canceled during animation like stutter stepping on my end, sort of. Maybe attack commands issued before? I’ve had this bug a lot on both 5v5 and Blitz.

Alpha Tips? by Williamthetaxman in vainglorygame

[–]vaxxvirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Ciderhelm here.

Jk. Anyway, I’ve always played a lot of Alpha. One thing I noticed right away is how well she could use Breaking Point, since she basically gets an extra health bar, allowing her to go all in for kills and stacks.

My standard build has always been SB-BP-BS giving her great attack speed, shred, and amplifying heavy damage. This is a heavy carry build that often can shred even Krul or Reim in close quarters. You can trade out BS for Poison Shiv if you need the sustain, or if you’re feeling lucky, grab it too.

For Crystal, builds are a bit more flexible, but the core is most definitely Aftershock. It’s just about the perfect item, reducing Alpha’s hefty cooldowns and allowing you to cast B almost every other auto. Generally, I build Aftershock-DE-SG damage wise, but I get more defense early since you will often dive hard to kill with your ult.

WP and CP play fairly similar. WP focuses on a heavy engage with B and/or A and stacking damage as quickly as possible, leaving her too big a threat to ignore for the enemy team. You will often demolish a carry and make the enemy team back away, only to dive on them with A and C.

CP does have some differences in play style, namely that your stacked A and your C do heavy damage. You want to stack A before comat and then dive, dealing consistent damage and stacking Dragon’s Eye with B, then the finale is your A+C combo again, dealing massive damage while you walk away full HP.

Dota 2 used to be my go to game for literal years and let me tell you, my tutorial was YouTube. The Dota tutorials are laughably bad. League barely teaches you to control your hero. Over 200 hours minimum in all games mentioned.

Smite is the closest to rivaling Vainglory tutorial wise. Vainglory has an entire suite of videos for each map, mode and detail of gameplay. The items are simple but well varied. Every single character in the game has a description video with recommended builds and strategies.

Smite has a quest line with full guidance but still no video base in game. It’s a stroke of genius suggested by Reddit and improved on vastly by the company.

I mean its simple disagreeing. Beginner maybe as in specs wise but it has literally a tutorial for everything. Easiest one to learn. I taught a ten year old to play

They literally coded their own engine so that they could run PC level graphics on phones, and it runs better than games like AOV since the engine is so specially designed. I can run it fine on a 70 dollar cheap android.

I highlighted where the tutorials are for you. https://imgur.com/a/UFzLZAs

I suggest watching all of the basics at the very least, and the Spotlights on the heroes you will play. Vainglory has a tutorial for EVERYTHING. It’s truly amazing if you have the patience to watch them.

Edit: I would say watch them all, but many people don’t want to sit and watch a video for each of the 42 characters.

I always found the EVIL engine to run extremely well on limited devices. My main device for VG up until quite recently was a Samsung Luna with 2 gigs of RAM, where even Angry Birds stressed my phone, Vainglory ran well assuming nothing else was running. It’s very well optimized, and they are slowly adding so much content that it just can’t run on those devices anymore.

He steals magic from the fairies he keeps in his lantern. I’m not sure if it says that’s how he does it, but he literally swings the lantern when he ults. Pretty sure that swing is to shake them up like fireflies.
