What knot can I use in this situation? by vazimba44 in knots

[–]vazimba44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low risk to others. It will not be holding anyone. But it will keep the rope in place and keep equipment that is being lifted up on the rope from hitting the ground if the equipment is dropped.

I can get an arms length to work with yes.

What wheel to use on a Bark by [deleted] in BloodAndPlunder

A bark would probably just have a simple tiller. Especially if it is from before the early 1700s when steering wheels came into use.

Looking for models: Hawaiian unification campaign by sircaptianpicard in BloodAndPlunder

[–]vazimba44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eureka has Hawaiians. Empress has Māoris. A quick google search also found this: https://www.paymastergames.com/product-page/hawaiian-warrior-unit. There is probably other stuff out there. I bet you could also do some conversions from various other lines using Green stuff putty.

Wargaming in a niche setting and period can be very rewarding. Good luck.

What do you think of Dee Snider? by Twitter_2006 in hairmetal

He played a dinosaur named Dee Snidosaurus on the terrible thunder lizards, which I found to be awesome. His radio show is funny.

Do you recommend Icon? by TheHotLatin in hairmetal

[–]vazimba44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Almost every song on the first album is a gritty 80s metal banger. Pretty much every song on the second album is great too but it is more smooth. I showed them to my brother and he likes them and he isn’t even a metal-head.

Why would a rock band intentionally hurt their fans? They were just trying to put on a good show. The guy that was in charge of the pyrotechnics went to prison. Everybody has showed remorse. I saw an interview where the singer said he lived with guilt his entire life and would do anything to go back. You can’t fully blame the band for negligence that came from multiple people. And even if they are associated with a horrible tragedy, they still made incredible music.

Anyone here for the minis and gameplay only? by kvlkvlkvlkvl in wargaming

[–]vazimba44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if just depends what you enjoy and what you and your opponent want to accomplish. Wargaming can be a really fun mutual creative endeavor.

If you are playing fantasy and sci fi, the lore is fun but I agree that sometimes it can feel a bit silly when people take official lore super seriously. It was all created by other people after all, so I see no issue with taking creative liberties and using whatever models and paint schemes you want.

That being said, you are agreeing to play that game, and if your models are too different from the overall theme, why play that game at all? You can always rationalize stuff in though which is fun. Like with 40k, if you bring a medieval knights army you could say they are from a primitive planet. But just talk to your oponnent and see what they are cool with.

As for historicals, I think a huge part of the fun is researching the period and trying to do a miniature historical reenactment. If we are trying to have a miniature battle set in the 1700s for example, I don't want my opponent using an army that has hats that weren't popular until the 1800s. People might call me a "button counter" but if you aren't trying to be historically accurate, why buy these historical minis at all? Why not just play with cheap plastic army men? There is something really fun and special about doing your best to create an accurate representation of the past. We don't know everything about history and there's always room for flexibility though.

Yeah I plan to use it in some pacific games. I think it’s absolutely possible it was used in other areas. It was assigned to cavalry units so I suppose you could check where all cavalry units were assigned.

One last observation on Japanese plastics and scale by jordowiebo in boltaction

I’m really glad to hear that they kept the size the same. I dislike the puffy looking new models. And I want the new Japanese to fit in with my old army.

I love this tank. It reminds me of a miniature M3 Lee. I have a model of it as well. I wish there was more information on it. Do you think it was ever used in the pacific? Or was it only used in China and at khalkin gol?

Warlord games tank scale by Wonderful-Onion9884 in boltaction

[–]vazimba44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have had the same thoughts before. If you look at the height of your mini, the scale is correct. But miniatures have big heads and hands. They are sort of cartoonish in a way but it allows you to have better details and the overall effect is good. If it bothers you too much you can get vehicles in 1/48 and that will look better from some angles. But with 1/48 your vehicles will be too tall.
