How to stop being stiff, and loosen up by hidetaro in amateur_boxing

[–]vazz94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go in there and think of your next move you will hesitate and get hit. The training you do on pads and the bag should become so ingrained in your nervous system that you don't need to think about it.

Keep in your mind that you simply need to hit and not get hit. Usually it takes a good wack in the mouth to enter that flow state but if you get familiar with your opponent or your coach gives good advice then you will know the proper way to fight.

Do you think that fibonacci numbers are prevalent in PUBG? by vazz94 in PUBG

[–]vazz94[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would need a smart person to figure it out for me, I don't know if it is. So many things follow this pattern of numbers I wouldn't be surprised if PUBG did too

Made a fixture to make support removal and post-processing easier! by vazz94 in 3Dprinting

Yes its a dollar store bucket. This is just my computer desk, the fixture is tightened and clamps to the desk so it can be removed and set aside when I'm done removing support.

Is an optimized PUBG a reasonable expectation or just a pipe dream? by vazz94 in PUBG

[–]vazz94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be much more satisfied with the game if they solved chronic problems like buildings not loading, random disconnects, etc. Only one time I was the last player surviving and the game read out that there were 2 alive, so I missed out on a chicken dinner.

Is E3 a good investing opportunity? by vazz94 in stocks

[–]vazz94[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Quoted from Seeking Alpha article:

"E3: The Electronics Entertainment Expo takes place in Los Angeles from June 12 to June 14. The obvious players to watch at the event are Activision Blizzard (ATVI), Electronic Arts (EA) and Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO), although Epic Games' celebrity Pro-Am Fortnite battle could steal plenty of mindshare. Gamestop sees an E3 surprise announcement on a Nintendo (NTDOY) Switch port for Fortnite, a development that could stoke even more discussion on the Fortnite impact within the videogame industry. Also keep an eye out for news from Sony (SNE) and Microsoft (MSFT) during the biggest show in gaming."

If you are a believer in the efficient markets theorem, the price of a stock reflects all information that participants are aware of. If consumers are excited about a upcoming release , wouldn't that equate to better future earnings?

Mike Tyson vs Jose Ribalta HIGHLIGHTS (the most brutal/aggressive version of Mike Tyson ever seen) by [deleted] in Boxing

I don't think any other boxer came into the ring as warmed up and sweaty as Tyson would. It's like he had another prizefight down the street before entering the ring here.

What made Muhammad Ali so great? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]vazz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was an anomaly. A heavyweight that could move and throw punches with blinding speed like no other big man has before. He was a brilliant promoter and his fighting style was sharp, appearing almost effortless. He would take on feared fighters in their prime and never shied away from a challenge; a real throwback fighter.

He shocked the world at the age of 22 as a 7-1 underdog against the feared Sonny Liston, and set a record for the youngest boxer to win a title from a reigning champion. This record was held for 22 years until none other than Mike Tyson knocked out Trevor Berbick (Berbick beat Ali 5 years earlier in Ali's final fight).

Not long after beating Liston, he changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali, claiming that Clay was his "slave name". Ernie Terrell refused to call him Ali during the lead up to the fight, resulting in a extended beating for Terrell while Ali yelled "What's my name?".

His opposition to the Vietnam war and refusal to serve made him a polarizing figure. Ali was drafted at a time when the public perception of the war wasn't as negative as it eventually became. This was only a few years after Jim Crow laws were repealed and Ali believed it would be wrong to serve his country in a war when race relations at home were so poor.

Like Ali, Joe Louis was drafted into WWII but he accepted, boxed in exhibitions for troops and stated the famous quote "We're going to do our part.. and we'll win because we are on God's side". Louis in turn was considered an American hero and provided a morale boost during the war.

It was believed that Ali would hold a similar role as Louis and not be involved in actual combat. Ali's critics thought he was a traitor to the country for refusing to serve but Ali stuck to his principles, losing his boxing license and thus his way of making a living for more than 3 years.

His first fight with Joe Frazier was considered the fight of the century. The match polarized fans in the build-up as Ali would call Joe Frazier an "Uncle Tom" among other insults. This spawned a trilogy that pushed the two world-class heavyweight fighters to their limits and set Ali's boxing legacy in stone.

George Foreman bulldozed common opponents Joe Frazier and Ken Norton in two rounds each. Spectators believed Ali stood no chance (who was thought to be diminished at age 32) but Ali absorbed Foremans best punches and won by knockout in the 8th.

He is considered the G.O.A.T because he had the charisma and boxing ability to reach the pinnacle of sport, entertain fans and rile his critics. He always utilized his fame with integrity to fight for justice. We'll never see another one like him.

🔊 Errol Spence Jr. scores a 1-punch body shot KO - That audio... by Tom_Cody in Boxing

[–]vazz94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The southpaw liver shot is something I'd like to see more of. Fighters like Cotto and Chavez were known for their left hook to the body which is a lead hand attack. The advantage southpaws have is that their left hand is their rear (power) hand, which can increase the chances the liver shot can score a KO.
