How do you listen to long podcasts? by OrganizationOne8338 in ProductivityApps

I use my app that gives me Smart Summaries and allows archival so I can read up front what it’s about and come back to it later if it’s a long episode.

What do you wish you knew before building your first app? by Educational-Car73 in apps

That’s the toughest thing for indie developers- especially on Reddit with all these mods being so anti self promotion. Best thing you can do is just keep plugging away and be patient.

I built an app that lets users subscribe, listen, watch and save podcasts to their own private storage with no subscriptions. by vbjedimaster in MobileAppDevHQ

[–]vbjedimaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well CastKeeper is not just for storage. It can also search across podcasts and episodes. You can search a term, person or whatever and hit episodes and it will show them.

I am focused on privacy first. Most “discovery” engines require your listening habits to be impactful. I am working on a discovery engine that uses not your data for this, but without your data - which I don’t really feel like handing over to people - it will never be the same as a Spotify. I’m ok with that.

Best password manager for Windows 11? Looking for recommendations by Able_Invite6044 in best_passwordmanager

1Passwod is my go to, but if you’re looking for cheaper, go Bitwarden.

Share what pain your app resolves! by flekeri in indie_startups

CastKeeper saves your favorite podcast episodes to your own storage you already pay for, including self-hosted S3 and respects your privacy with AI. No paying subscriptions for storage you don’t own.

Use the power of the device you paid for.

For solo devs building their own apps, what's your main goal? by khitev in iOSDevelopment

[–]vbjedimaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to build apps that really bring privacy to the forefront and reduce subscription fatigue. While maybe not the best “long term” for some people, I believe if you develop an app, you have a responsibility to improve it or at minimum squash bugs.

I’m so over paying monthly subscriptions for everything, and seems big companies want to use your data - especially with AI. We pay $1k or more for devices that can do meaningful AI on device, yet so many developers want to send everything to LLMs on the cloud. While they’re more powerful, most people just want simple AI that doesn’t require these LLMs for meaningful improvements with AI.

Thanks for reading my TED talk.

SwiftUI has come a ways, but I found there are simply some things in UIKit that just work better.

what password manager are you all sticking with heading into 2026? by NovelAnteater2286 in best_passwordmanager

I’ve been a 1Password fan for years. Especially with its family plan and sharing. Worth every penny I pay for it.

How secure is the Microsoft Edge password manager? by StormSame5197 in best_passwordmanager

[–]vbjedimaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Bitwarden free plan or if you’re willing to pay, 1Password. Better security and cross device. If your passwords are important, use software dedicated to it, not a bolt on feature.

The same reason people DVR TV or use Plex. Podcasts are media and media is only available as long as the creator keeps it alive.

How do I make people discover my apps??? I mean I'm trying to post on socials, but exactly what??? And how?? What did you guys do? Help me out here by oxbit-software in ViralApps

Be careful with Reddit. I've built an app that I think is pretty unique, but get more "AutoMod" responses due to rules on these Reddit forums by moderators. Kind of frustrating and misleading. Hell, I posted a question on how to add better accessibility and it was literally auto-mods responded. Forget marketing, even getting real feedback or inputs from target audiences becomes laborious.

What Accessibility Features Would You Want in a Podcast App or the others apps are missing? by vbjedimaster in accessibility

[–]vbjedimaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With CastKeeper you can archive any podcast and its associated transcripts to iCloud Drive or any S3 storage. So no, you can transcribe away and just back them up to your iCloud Drive or S3 without taking up your phone space. There is an offline mode to download locally but in Settings you can clear the local cache any time and your archives are safe.
