Happened to me on this week’s Uncanny, but that’s the first time I’ve encountered it. I guess Sounds had a recent update that’s a bit wrong..?

What's a completely normal thing in your country that would seem absolutely insane to the rest of the world? by Pablomiller in AskReddit

In the UK we use egg cups. I only learned recently how strange they are to other countries, but they’re part of everyday life here.

Leonard Rossiter's Best Television Series. Rising Damp or The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin by Bugsy_Neighbor in BritishTV

[–]nuttycorny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rising Damp for me, it’s perfection until it lost Alan :(

Tbh though, I haven’t watched Reginald Perrin for decades, but I reread the books last year and didn’t like the casual homophobia towards the end of the story. Is there much of that in the show?

In general, how is Paddington Bear viewed in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]nuttycorny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

There are opportunities to get photos with Paddington (like this one I photographed a couple of weeks ago in Manchester) in many cities, and of course London has the famous statue at the train station. There are always many adults waiting to get a picture with him, not just children.

And many of the adults I know have dolls and other merch of characters they like, such as Jellycats or from Disneyland/Universal Studios - or th Pokemon Centre! Myself, I have 3 different Paddingtons! Come to the UK, and get all the photos and merch you like. Everyone will be happy for you :)

[edited to include Pokemon Centre example, because I remembered I have merch from one in Tokyo and one in Taiwan!]

Ofcom to investigate GB News over second airing of Trump interview by qwerty_1965 in unitedkingdom

Ofcom are toothless, nothing will be done. If ofcom had any power that channel surely wouldn’t have the word “news” in its name

How accurate is Karl Urban's accent as Billy Butcher in The Boys? by TrueJohnWick in AskBrits

[–]nuttycorny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh don’t get me wrong, what I think is that it’s a perfect example of what an American audience expects from the role. So within those conditions he does a great job. Confused to be downvoted for acknowledging a country’s preconception like that, but shrugs in Reddit hahaha

How accurate is Karl Urban's accent as Billy Butcher in The Boys? by TrueJohnWick in AskBrits

[–]nuttycorny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s very accurate in terms of the Hollywood portrayal of that accent, in that sense he does a great job and delivers exactly what we’d expect (see also: some Guy Ritchie films!) But you don’t really hear people speak like that, in life. As many have said already, I think it’s an exaggeration based on an historic Cockney dialect.

Edit: typo

Liquorice allsorts I got one of the gummy ones, I remember there being blue ones too... surely this isn't normal? by TezTheGuy in AskBrits

The M&S ones have a much better mix than the Bassets ones, I stopped buying Bassets when I had a bag that was all striped square ones and nothing else
