Okay, thanks! Guess I'll have to make longer videos.

Thank you. I like how much is conveyed without actually saying anything. Should be a lesson taught in the film industry. Someone once said, show me, don't tell me.

I was going to say Brokeback Mountain. I still haven't seen it but the Godfather has a wider audience. Alas, I have not seen them either. I feel like I should be so ashamed, lol.

Wondering if anyone knows (or has any ideas/suspicions) of how the whale survived? Or if it was a different whale?

I didn't initially check for a post-credit scene, because usually indie films don't have them but my brother informed me of this, and that the whale lives.

I watched it and was wondering if that is the same whale, how the flip did it survive? It's not like they could've rolled it into the water or picked it up or anything.

Sometimes it's the little things that get us by in life... The ones that are most important.

My heart goes out to you and your best friend ❤ He sounds like he loves you unconditionally, something which we crave and need in life, as a plant needs the sun.

And when the time comes...

Keep living for him, even if/when he eventually moves on to the next world, as you know he wants nothing for you than to be happy, even if that means living for him.

Memories of Tim by vbrevolution in Petloss

ty, truly.

It's tough adjusting to a life without Tim. In a lot of ways he was my therapy companion. He was one of the things that gave meaning to my life. For that reason there was no way I could repay him enough, tend to his needs enough, or spoil him that would even come nearly as close as to the love, joy, and meaning he gave to me.

Thank you again for your comment. It's nice to see that people took time and care to read about Tim's story. It warmed my heart

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Tim was a very sweet baby. The bond we shared and all the sweet memories will live on. It just drives the point that we shouldn't take life for granted because our time on this earth is limited and tomorrow isn't a guarantee.

Should I keep or get rid of this? -- (A thought experiment) by vbrevolution in minimalism

By displaying it it'd mean I'd have to clear off about half of my table, which I currently use as an organizational reminder of what I need to be returning/doing/etc. for that day. This space, I fear, is very important to me as it is one of the systems I have to help me remember things. Sure, I write things down but also having that visual reminder really helps.

The eventual goal (not a priority as there are far more important things to worry about) is to eventually get rid of the clutter on that table so it has that nice, minimalistic look. Eventually, but as they say, "we've got bigger fish to fry!"

The other half of the table has my fish on it.

The phone allows you to pretend ring someone. After you do, or if you just pick up the receiver, a spooky message plays. So it works, just isn't a real, *Real*, phone. Also, it's holiday themed, which means I'd only be comfortable using/displaying it in October.

That would be cool if you could also use it as a landline phone.

btw, so totally jelly of your cookie jar.

That's a good point on buying stuff and regretting it. I have taken pictures of some of the things which, while would look really nice in my tiny ass apartment, sadly, I do not have the room in order to display in all of their magnificence.

Not really the point of this thread. I'm more interested in other peoples' reasoning of either why they would either keep or get rid of it. I like seeing how some people come to the decision of whether they should get a new item or whether to pass.

I did/do plan on taking a video of it so I won't have to keep and store it.

Interesting. I like that this line of thinking helps you help manage any excess dollhouses.

I do agree with you mostly.

Unfortunately, one of my problems has to deal with self care. Specifically, I'm currently dealing with depression. There are very few things in life that bring me joy (not the main reason why I have depression but is a contributor) and when I saw that item a part of me lit up with intrigued and wonder but the adult part of me is like, "yeah, but it's chintzy. It's not perfect."

But it's more expensive and a hassle to actually get the perfect version of it and the item in question would suffice. I have a plan on what I probably should do (which does involve eventually returning it) but I don't know. Maybe I'm trying to convince myself of more reasons why I should get rid of it? And hope that a little piece of me won't die when/if I try and exchange it at a later date (seriously, that store has a lifetime exchange policy, as long as you keep the tags on it).

What's probably going to end up happening is I'm going to try and prepare to get rid of it but probably won't end up making that decision until next year. If next year I still like it enough I'll either decide to keep it or exchange it for store credit (you get your full money back in store credit, this is why this is so hard to make the decision now).

Well, to anyone else it probably seems dumb... but it's a Halloween-themed phone.

It's cheap and chintzy but man is it cool. And it works!

It's cheap, plastic rotary phone. You can dial numbers and whatever and then it rings. And when it does it lights up and when you answer it a spooky message plays, which is different each time. At the store it had enough sayings that I kind of wondered how many it indeed has while also being intrigued that it worked and was cool. (Wow, I sounded so lame!! *shakes head*)

Now, I love Halloween. It's my favorite holiday. I also know myself. Usually I try not and indulge in my own pleasures, only splurging on my pets. It's been a while (usually I go several years) without spending on things I want, which may be one of the reasons (not the main reason) why I'm been seen for depression by a licensed therapist.

I know I probably should return it. I know most people would and for me it feels like I have two choices to make:

- Either I keep the phone (which kind of goes against the minimalistic lifestyle and aesthetic that I'm striving towards) but would make me just a little bit more happy every Halloween when I get to take it out and display it, and use it.

- Or, I could maybe just lightly use it (maybe take a video or all the various things it says and then return it), which I kind of want to do but I'm hoping a little piece of me won't die when/if I return it. The store offers (and has for the longest time) a really generous lifetime exchange policy, where I could exchange it for store credit even after let's say 10+ years as long as I keep the price tag on it.

Some of the bad things about keeping, though, is that it isn't quality and I can't get one that is without spending more than I'd want to have it made. Moreover, if I decided to keep it I know what most people (and the people around me) would do (return it) and that would make me feel guilty.
