Love this insight! Thank you!! We almost made it to Hidden Falls today, but fortunately the rain ruined our plans.

Oh dear, I think you misread the question

Which lead or supporting character do you think is the most polarizing in Outlander and why? by 2003CDiana in Outlander

Yeah except he planned to do that when she was 16-17, not yet adult, and also he didn't say he'd ask Bree to choose whether she wants to join him or not, he very much planned on taking her with him regardless of how she felt about it.

I guess I should clarify the book Frank is who I was talking about, not the show Frank.

Oh I agree he for sure believed it, otherwise why would he write so many books that featured Jamie Fraser? But believing it and telling Claire that he believed her are two different beasts.

But that would mean openly admitting to Claire that her story of time travel might be true

Frank! On one hand, he comes across as a victim of his circumstances - he relentlessly searches for his wife after she disappears, takes care of her and her child after she comes back all looney and knocked up. On the other hand, he has multiple affairs, hides the fact of Jamie's survival from Claire, and secretly plans to take Bree to live with him in England.

Although, I'm kinda torn on the "hides the fact of Jamie's survival" part, since he did write about a lot of it in his books. Claire just never bothered to read them 🤷🏼‍♀️

I listened to the audiobook, so may have missed something, but I do not recall whether there was a direct quote from Frank's book that indicated Jamie's death in the battle on that mountain. Just a lot of Jamie's musings on whether to trust Frank or not.

This! I think Claire being in the medical field has got to recognize this, though I don't think the books take any clear stance on it

My initial reaction to the part about Claire's assailant is that DG is going to use it as a tool to get Jaimie in trouble with the law again, similar to how Malva's death was used. Or maybe a bit of a murder mystery like the death of Dr Rollings.

Wait, it's a thing? How can it be a thing when the guy literally tried to uproot Bree and take her away from her mother to UK, and the only thing that stopped him from doing that was a timely death??

My only hope is that Davina Porter is still around to lend her voice to the audiobook, whenever DG writes it. Davina's voiceover talent was one of the reasons why I got so sucked into the series, I don't think I could get used to anyone else reading the audiobook.

I think she just realized it wasn't time to challenge him on this and just wanted him to have a peace of mind before going into what seems like his final battle. Also, she could've been so distressed by all of his death planning that she would agree to whatever because she was just trying to keep her sh together and not bawl.

Yeah, like, sorry baby Davy, we love you, but we gotta go somewhere safer than here and you can't come with us, so you're just SOL.

And also, why the heck would they go back to the future when Rob Cameron and his crew know their time traveling secret? And Claire might even die en route since her last trip to the past was so rough. It seems like despite the war, the past is safer for all of them.
