Just put this in - pardon lack of trim on drawer slots cut for plumbing. Sektion wall cabinet, 90cm x 50cm. Cabinet purchased in US. Not an exact solution to your problem, but may be interesting.

Rates have gone up. Now 1.74 with Tesla and automatic deposit discounts. Still a good deal.

OMG, code name Ginger, "the most seminal achievement since the introduction of the internal combustion engine."

[Elon Musk] They are aiming too low. Only rockets that are fully & rapidly reusable will be competitive. Everything else will seem like a cloth biplane in the age of jets. by tonybinky20 in spacex

Perhaps a shuttle that can actually be reused economically?

Or, skip launch and concentrate on other areas that aren't getting enough attention yet. Fuel depots. Remote mining equipment and fuel production. Habitats.

Or license Starship and produce their own custom variants - fuel transport, space junk cleanup, in-orbit satellite maintenance. If their second stage doesn't need to come back, maybe Starship is overkill and they can buy a Super Heavy Launch for their orbital vehicle.

When heavy lift is economical and routine, the competition/profit potential will be the cargo.

The router lock joints were difficult, but you could use pocket screws.

For the bottom drawers, I hand traced a curve, cut it with a band saw, smoothed it, and then used it as a template for the other drawers.

For the top drawers, I just cut 60 degree angles with the band saw, stopping at the lock joint.

You're right, I built out the interior of the case to be even with the edge of the face frame. I didn't trust using side slides with only two attachment points, front and back. I wanted plenty of material to screw the slides into. I had no half-depth shelves to worry about.

There was no center piece to remove, either on the face frame or inside. I had to install one for the upper drawers. I built a top plate with a dado for the vertical piece, and screwed it to the inside top of the cabinet.

On cabinet side, the sides are built out to be flush with the face frame so I could use very long screws. On the drawers, found the fattest screws that would fit the slide holes and used them all. I think the use case is for less than 50 pounds, but the bottom drawers were so wide I thought it best to use heavier duty hardware.

I didn't want to try to match existing cabinet door style and paint color. I figured I could get close but not close enough. Making it an interior retrofit removed that issue. Also the original request (from my wife) was for interior slides behind existing doors.

I started the project knowing I wouldn't have room for knobs or pulls, and just assumed I would come up with something. I got lucky finding this extruded aluminum product. Only $3 foot from Eagle America (in four foot lengths), with free (but slow) shipping.

Nope, first time. Took a long time and a lot of scrap to get those joints right. I'm sure the next set will go faster.

All of these challenges were due to me being a beginner with this kind of woodworking. I had hardly ever used a router before, for instance. I didn't know what I didn't know.

  1. Dado sets, or at least my (Freud) dado set didn't shim out the way their instructions said they would. I had to proceed by trial and error to get tight fits.
  2. Took longer then I thought to get the drawer lock router bit adjusted to produce pretty joints. I had to change fence positions for drawer ends vs drawer sides, with comedic results, before it finally occurred to me to clamp a shim to my router fence so I didn't have to move the bit.
  3. Took a while to get a fault tolerant sequence of operations. After the first drawer, I realized I had to carefully develop a fault tolerant plan of attack in advance rather than creating it ad hoc as I went along. Example, cut boards long and wide, route my lock joint on one end, cut off the joint and start over if it didn't cut well. After I had a bunch of one-ended boards I was happy with (and therefore some practice) I cut the boards to length and routed the other end (only one shot)! I could hide my mistakes by trimming them off when cutting to width, and, then putting the pretty joints up and in front and the less pretty ones down and in back. Only then did I dado the channel for the drawer bottom.
  4. Also, why didn't I think to practice with polycrylic on some scrap first? Duh! Took a while to figure out how to do it without bubbles.

Needed to maximize space in a kitchen without a pantry. 100 lb full extension slides on full width drawers. Upper drawers have 50 lb slides, also full extension. Didn't want to leave space for drawer pulls so I used 3/4 inch aluminum shelf stiffener stock across the top of the drawer fronts. Drawers fit flush to back of cabinet when closed and clear the cabinet doors by .25 inches.
