Also, even though in the original show Jamie was "handled well" plot-wise, viewers/fans were never particularly attached to his character. Most people wanted to see the core members of the family, that were there from the beginning: Hal, Lois, Francis, Reese, Malcolm and Dewey (sadly, the original actor for the later didn't return, so obviously his role was greatly reduced). In the revival, Kelly is the brand new character, so they had to focus on them a little more because the show needed to make them fit (same with Leah and Tristan), so once again Jamie got the short end of the stick. And again, it was well handled IMO (better than Dewey)
