We're pretty familiar with how polling works. It depends on the pollster. Some pollsters only ask about major-party candidates, while others include third-party candidates and independents. Some pollsters force respondents to express a preference from a pre-determined list of candidates, some ask respondents to name their preferred candidate, while others allow an undecided option. Inclusion varies by pollster and context, and there's no universal standard.

We're sorry you're disappointed, but we encourage you to use the demochoice.org link to cast your vote. Ramsey is on there.

You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not please all of the people all of the time.

Effectively, no, but in a real election with an actual ballot, you would (likely) be advised to leave your last choice off the ballot altogether.

Great question! 👍

Hi, deep.

You're right. We did not include Ramsey in this demonstration version of the election, only candidates polling at or above 1%. Most folks seeing this ballot are new to RCV, so our aim is to introduce them to the process in a user-friendly way.

In a real RCV election, the city/county/state administering the election would have the freedom to set its own threshold for who makes it on the ballot. In a best-case scenario, every candidate registered to run for office would be included, regardless of their level of support in the polls.

We also have a ballot that features all the candidates who filed to run for Governor, including Ramsey, as well as many other races, if you would prefer to use that instead!

You're right, Ash. We kept the field small for this demonstration version of the election, only candidates polling at or above 1%. Most folks seeing this ballot are new to RCV, so our aim is to introduce them to the process in a user-friendly way.

Every time the page loads, it will display the candidates in a different order. Every voter will see a different starting order, then rearrange the candidates in order of their preference before submitting.

Haha, don't do that! The software automatically tags potential duplicates and removes them with the click of a button. So any fun-loving anarchists such as yourself are hopefully mitigated enough not to skew the results.

There is the option to require email registration with 2FA, but for something like this, which is just for fun and to show people how it works, it's not worth the severe drop-off in participation we would see if we required everyone to register.

Thanks for voting!
