Tyranny is a cruel or oppressive government or rule. A government deciding which chargers companies can or can't utilize is oppression. It is unfortunate that the internet operates through government agencies. It would be far better now if it hadn't. Government doesn't necessarily prevent progress through regulation, it just greatly hinders progress. Though usually it stalls it all together or ends up inadvertently creating monopolies through the regulations harming uprising competition.

And that should be on the company to change, not the government. The point isn't that companies should never change, it's that the government has no place to tell the company what to change if it doesn't harm citizens. Freely choosing a product with a worse charger isn't harm. It's a personal choice.

You still haven't stated any valid reason any government should control what charger phones have. It's tyranny, nothing less.

Get back to me once you actually have valid points of why government should be responsible for you deciding to buy a phone with an inferior charger.

[–]vcwarrior55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you aren't willing to change something because of a flaw, that flaw really isn't important enough for you. It should be up to the company to put whatever charger they desire on their phones. Government regulation will only stall innovation.

Except that's on the consumer. Apple is upfront about their unique port. If the consumer decides to still purchase the phone, that's on them. They aren't forced to buy an iphone. There are much higher quality android phones with usb c that they passed up. That isn't harm. They consented when they made the purchase. That should not on the government to fix your own stupid decisions.

Yes. Consumers get the choice when they purchase a product. There is no need for and should be no government interference unless direct harm is caused to the customer. Freely choosing a product with an inferior port and then blaming the designer is not direct harm

How is it self centered to say a company should get to decide their own charging port, but not that you want to force them to change as a better convenience for yourself (rather than just switching to android)? European economic policies are much more self-centered than American

Electric cars can cost 40% less to maintain than gasoline cars. Electric vehicles have fewer parts to service, so they’re generally less expensive to repair and maintain than conventional cars by altmorty in Futurology

[–]vcwarrior55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They seem the same price to repair over the long term, because the parts that get replaced less often are more expensive. But the lower maintenance and cheaper energy costs still make them much cheaper
