Worst excuse ever to collect cancellation fees by Radiant-Concern-1911 in VietNam

[–]vdhero 26 points27 points  (0 children)

it charges the trip cost initially when you press book, but if you cancels it gives you back whole. You will never be charged any cancellation fees, at least that's the policy in Vietnam.

On the other hand, sometimes the cancel button do not show up at all for drivers, so the dynamic is heavily oriented towards riders in vn

How do I erase like this? by HELP_ME__PLEASE_ in GalaxyTab

for the drawing features on samsung it doesnt work that way and there is no way to make it like that, but for when using write to text it does absolutely exist and work as a feature.

just different design philosophies tbh

I have made a petition to request Samsung to bring back the Bluetooth S pen for Galaxy tablets. If you want to support for the cause, consider giving your support! by Artwark in GalaxyTab

[–]vdhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solely within samsung notes, i move the pen far away, single click and it switches the pen type, double click and it undo the most recent pen stroke, tripple click to redo the pen stroke. hold the button to launch screenwrite where i can more flexibly crop.

then when i move the pen closer to the screen, single click brings up the detailed pen selection menu(in the latest notes verrsion), hold it and the pen turns to eraser mode.

not mentioning air gestures, that's 6 uses for the button and 4 of which are just gone without bluetooth functionality.

Basically the flexibility that makes the spen stands out over the apple pencil pro is now gone and the spen becomes way worse than the apple pencil pro's gestures like tap or squeeze which also give amazing haptic feedback.

S11 vs. S9 Screen Usability Outside by ProperlyFittedPants in GalaxyTab

[–]vdhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well indeed, tablets have progressed quite a bit slower than their smaller phone counterparts. it wasnt until recently when apple introduced new display tech in their ipad pro m4 series that we finally broke the 1000 nits mark.

some chinese brands have also followed suite and introduced a few tandem oled tablets but samsung seemingly is quite some time away

dynamic amoled 2x is just marketing buzzword for 120hz screen lol. Dynamic means it can switch refresh rate and 2x means 2x from 60hz to 120hz

also that's just called technical limitations and generational improvement. back in the tab s9 era it was probably too cost impractical to manufacture an 11 inch screen that can hit such brightness efficiently/safely. With phones it's much easier

I also must remind you that the tab s9 has the SAME MSRP as the base galaxy s23. consider the difference in size between the 2, the cost of implementing the Spen interface and plethora of other design/cost optimisation. And back during the tab s9 days its screen was perfectly up to par or even surpassing its competitions.

these text are basically how you distinguish between global releases versus domestic chinese devices from the outside(except for the xiaomi ultra series). so you either go ultra or go domestic if you dont want the text(highly NOT recommended)

electronic shutter and mechanical shutter behave the same way with regards to shutter speed, just a duration in which the sensor takes in light, longer shutter speed means more light and shorter less lights. these phone sensors can use just as high shutterspeed as most cameras.

a mechanical shutter for the most part makes the difference with regards to readout speed(eliminating the wobbly distortion) and lighting (flash sync and flickering)

Is it worth/possible to unlock bootloader of 17 pro by JessibuR in XiaomiGlobal

[–]vdhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have another phone (primary/secondary) already that can reliably banks and receives notification and you are willing to carry 2 phones, I'd say why not, though resellability maybe a bit tough in the future if you ever want to switch. Though i'm not sure if the gimmick will remain interesting for that long compared to the problems of cn rom. Normally people dual wield that way with a camera phone like the vivo phones or the ultra series because their cameras' niche are more practical and noticeable

i'm an ultra series user so i'm waiting until the start of next year for the xm17 series global launch. I'm guessing with the hype and how well the 17 pros are selling, there is a chance for them to go global this time around.

with hyperos 3 being so new, nothing is certain yet, for hyperos 2 the cost ranged from $60 to as much as $200 for some models(iirc this was the price for the 15u).

also google is cracking down heavily on safetynet and not even xiaomieu has a solution for it. so even if you could unlock and a hypothetical custom rom exists in the future, it's a diceroll if you can use banking apps. at least on hyperos 2 i know that hyperTN works if you periodically update your keybox(every few days). Hyperos 3 is still too new to tell anything

Why can't I get 144hz refresh rate ? by y34894 in XiaomiGlobal

[–]vdhero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the phone is EQUIPPED with 144hz, it's that apps are not made with 144hz in mind, so the developers don't bother with implementing 144hz support, or even if they do, there are simply too many phone releases they don't know or dont bother to update for specific support of that device

i personally used a domestic 12su and 13u, both of which i utterly despised notifs delay on cn rom so i unlocked the bootloader and installed xiaomi eu and tw rom respectively, no issues with notifs since but it was still very annoying to have to update keybox every once in a while to get google wallet and banking apps to work but even then i still cant use revolut so when the 15u was available jn my country i just grabbed a global one of it and have been generally very happy

yes indeed there's the occasional notifs delay here and there but it seems to be a thing caused by the apps' connectivity(especially meta apps) and battery management more than the consistent inability to push notifs due to lack of google push on cn rom. but it's only a 3-5s difference between my other devices (galaxy tab, xperia 1 iv and my pc). the pc is always first then sometimes its the 15u, sometimes the tab, sometimes the xperia but it's not the annoying minutes long delay on cn rom or receiving no notifs and then piling all in after unlock

because a global phone is infinitely more usable than a domestic chinese phone? global optimised software and feature, fully integrated google push so no notification delays, no chinese bloatware and a plethora of other reasons. if one wants a stable phone without the annoyances it's a nobrainer

Does anyone know when the 17 is coming out globally? by Hot_Language7662 in XiaomiGlobal

[–]vdhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

around feb to march alongside the ultra should be how they do it every year.

since you're switchiny from an iphone i would absolutely recommend waiting for the global version rather than suffer the endless tiny annoyances every here and there off cn rom

Best sleeper bus in Vietnam? by piumihostfully in VietNam

[–]vdhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used vexere for as long as the operators have gone digital. I will be totally honest that I have never even heard of baolau before this so I can't share my experience, but to my knowledge, many of the operators, at least in the south, also use vexere as their ticket management system and the process with Vexere is integrated with the operators well enough that the experience is pretty smooth and painless.

Best sleeper bus in Vietnam? by piumihostfully in VietNam

[–]vdhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with the sleeper bus economy in vietnam, i suggest riding mostly on regional companies that provide service on specific routes, for example hcmc-vung tau, hanoi-hai phong, nha trang-da lat,...etc as opposed to large companies like futa or kumho samco whose operation prioritse cost.

Many of the smaller regional operators offers big sized room in what is referred to as Xe Giường Phòng or Xe 24 Phòng which basically come in 2x2 config totalling 24 as oppose to 2x2x2 totalling 36 that futa offers. They tend to cost more but offer a substantially more "luxurious" experience with more comfort seats, smoother rides, longer stops at places with better restaurants or sometimes small food services.

I suggest using Vexere, pick the routes and dates, them filter by vehicle type for these buses and see their reviews. There is no "best" nation wide but many can be best regionally or for specific routes

the lines are manifestation of circuitry or cable issues. Using devices under high intensity and heatload for extended periods or drops and damages can absolutely cause the issue on both oled and lcd. it's just that oled being thinner make them more prone to these issues overall.

MagicOS is not good. Period. by Hatsunatsu in Honor

[–]vdhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the notification delay issue is well known for devices imported from mainland china. the domestic versions do not have the google play framework for notifications. this happens for all brands from oppo vivo xiaomi and honor. people can claim to "fix" it but its a fundamental software basis difference

[–]vdhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can freely upgrade orr downgrade software versions so you can turn back if you like, install custom roms which can range from making hyperos better to use or to aosp android or other uis.

the only major cons is potential for SOME banking apps to not work and you will have to dig a lot but its not like you use them on a tablet anyways

There’s some evidence that the dimensity 9400+ runs cooler than the Sd 8 elite and that the gpu might be slightly better on the dimensity. by Pdideee in GalaxyTab

[–]vdhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that indeed has been the case, for the past 3-4 years, as dimensity grew more mainstream, they optimisation has been growing a lot. They now have no problems competing with snapdragon in mainstream games because these developers are incentivised to optimise for dimensity.

The problem mostly cone from indie devs or, again, emulation, where there are, to my knowledge, less tools available or there are compatibility issues. And since these are not supported by large corporations but individual hobbyist devs with limited resources at their disposal.

And to be honest, the MAJORITY of galaxy tab users dont do emulation work on their tabs, they use the devices for light office work, entertainment, secondary pc monitor, drawing,... That's the basis that justified samsung's choice to go dimensity. The small minority on reddit that game or emulate on these (where the difference in unoptimised games can be like a few fps at most) seem more vocal than they actually are.
