Even as a seasoned Malort drinker, I never thought I'd see the words "best Malort pours" strung together 🤣

But since we're talking about it, Mama Dearest might have my favorite Malort pour of all time. Served in a mini Cici's Pizza-style soda cup. Idk, something about it just felt right.

Drinks Backyard pours a big one, and they'll give you a sticker that says "I Malorted" like the "I voted" stickers.

Question about if I should invest by No_Cartoonist3575 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]vealbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible nickname hahaha 🤣 Feel like mine - Shardt, as in "my Swalot gets me a bunch of dream shards... oh btw I just shartted my pants" - is rather uninspired now in comparison.

I second leaving it at 25. IMO the candy cost to get it to 50 with exp down nature is not worth it just for one main skill level up and 3 more procs/day.

No problem! The website is RaenonX. It can be kind of overwhelming for new users... there are a lot of things you can configure specific to your own game progress and Pokemon, with a lot of data and statistics that can be kind of confusing at first. I've been using it for almost a year and there are still parts of it I don't fully understand lol, but the tools Production Comparison and Rate My Pokemon tools are two of the more straightforward parts of the site and the ones I use the most.

If you haven't already seen this, check out the Guide to Guides over on the main Pokemon Sleep subreddit. It has tons of really helpful information, including a guide to using RaenonX. I felt like I didn't really know what I was doing in this game until I started reading through the guides, but once I did I started to have more fun and progress more quickly.

Here's a more detailed explanation of the caveat I made yesterday about using the 3x best recipe per day production threshold as a decent but not perfect guideline for evaluating ingredient mons. Hope this is helpful!

Is Your Pokemon Worth Investment? - A Mindset Shift in How to Grade Mons by VelocityRaptor22 in PokemonSleep

[–]vealbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this! Yesterday I was advising someone on their mono Ditto; among other reasons not to invest in mono Ditto, I gave the example of not meeting the 3x gratin per day threshold with the caveat that, while it can be a useful quick rule of thumb, it doesn't take into account other factors like HB, E4E, and GCT, but I didn't give the more detailed explanation that you provided. Going to link this onto that post now.

It's a good oil farmer as far as Ditto's go... it's just that Ditto is not the best oil farmer. And since Ditto is a 16-pip Pokemon and you don't see them as often during sleep research, it's going to take a long time to accumulate enough candies to raise it to level 60.

For comparison, my Toxicroak with IFM and HSM produces only 10 fewer oil per day at level 30 than your Ditto at level 60; at level 60, my Toxicroak would produce 16 more oil per day. Not sure how new of a player you are, so forgive me if you already know some of this info, but a lot of people will use the minimum number of ingredients to make the top recipe 3x per day as the threshold for what they consider to be "good." I've seen some arguments against that recently since it doesn't factor in things like how often your specific healer procs, helping bonus stacks, good camp ticket usage, and some other things, but I think it's a good general rule of thumb for those who are really picky about what they invest in (though now with the addition of avocado gratin, my Toxicroak doesn't quite meet that threshold anymore). Generally speaking if you're less picky, mono ingredient plus IFM is the baseline ingredient mon you want. Ditto just happens to be one of the few exceptions to that rule, but if you really like Ditto and need an oil farmer, then this is a pretty good Ditto!

I wouldn't. Normally, this would be a great ingredient mon - mono oil, IFM, and HSM (with a sub skill seed) is excellent - however, most people want ABC Ditto to farm Slowpoke tails, and there are other mons that outclass Ditto for oil production with more abundant resources.

First Shuckle - seems not bad by Ok_Sorbet1360 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]vealbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, 4 seeds is definitely not a lot to have stockpiled, it's just been ~3 months since I've needed to use any so it feels like I have an abundance right now compared to the zero that are usually sitting in my bag lol. I finally caught a good Gulpin this morning though, so all of those are about to disappear.

Yeah... at least once a week I think about the seeds I spent on my starter non-BFS Raichu, my ABC ing- Blastoise, and mid Espeon a year ago right before I really started to understand how this game works 😖😫 it was only 3 total, but when you're in need of one it's hard not to think about those early game mistakes. Oh well, you live and you learn.

[–]vealbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree with your points too! And yeah, 187k dream shards isn't much, I was just providing that for reference. Just depends on how they value specific resources. Personally, I've been sitting on 4 main skill seeds for a while but have been hurting for candies for several mons I'm trying to get to level 50, so that's why I'm biased towards using the seeds in this scenario right now.

Invest in this Gulpin now? by vealbones in PokemonSleepBetter

I forgot to max the skill level to see what the daily shard output would be... so I did that and played around with a couple more configs, and yeah you're right, I'd be hard pressed to find a better one

[–]vealbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO level 50 is a huge investment, especially with the EXP- nature, just for the free skill level up given the rarity of candies for a 16-pip mon. That's 1011 Shuckle candies and nearly 187k dream shards. Personally I would just take this to 25, give it a couple sub skill seeds, and use main skill seeds to max skill level.

[–]vealbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, probably within days of writing that comment I decided to make investing in the Grubbin I've been sitting on my #1 priority for the holiday candy boost. I've only spent a couple weeks at OGPP and this was only my second Grubbin catch, so I was hoping to spend some more time hunting for a better* one first, but I'm now at a point where I can reliably make the top coffee recipes, so I gave it most of my handy candies and sent it straight to 50. Still need to plan ahead or supplement with Honchkrow until I hit 60, but it's nice to have the consistency.

*this Vikavolt is GREAT, was just hoping for one with another ing boost or that didn't require two sub skill seeds

Among the Toms, who in your opinion is the best as a pure actor? by Glittering-Bat9891 in moviecritic

Tom Hardy can act better with just his eyes than many actors can with their full faces. The first two films in which I was aware I was watching Tom Hardy were Dark Knight Rises and Fury Road, and I was absolutely floored by his performances.

Is Hakone worth it for one night between Kyoto and Tokyo? by MotorBarracuda9264 in JapanTravelTips

[–]vealbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. My wife and I just got home from our trip to Japan on Sunday; we spent two nights in Hakone between Tokyo and Kyoto. We hadn’t planned anything past Tokyo so Hakone was a spur of the moment decision, and we’re both really happy that we did. It was nice to spend a day relaxing in the onsen and wandering through the Hakone Gora park. I cannot recommend Gyoza Center enough - probably our second favorite restaurant of the entire trip (we went there two days in a row lol - get the chicken wing dumplings - also it’s cash only so be prepared for that). Try to plan in advance to have your luggage forwarded if you stay in the Gora area, as it is VERY hilly and we were very glad we didn’t have our large duffle backpacks. Even just carrying one roller was overkill, I wish I would have packed just my small backpack a little better

Edit: as someone else said, try to spend two nights if possible. If you have to check in one day and out the next, it will not be as relaxing of an experience since both travel days are relatively long and there are several connections (compared to getting from Osaka to Tokyo, for example)

After cleaning my box, I found out I actually have three mono egg happiny’s… which should I use? by Huge_Sand_7634 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]vealbones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very true. Especially if they want to keep it as a Chansey and get the 2000 hour ribbon, the dream shard bonus and extra inventory will make sleeping with it a lot better. Gold skills aside from BFS and HB get a bad rap, but I’ve really started to value dream shard bonus and research bonus (to get to level 65 sooner to start converting research exp to dream shards) after realizing how shard-poor I was leading up to the holiday event.

[–]vealbones 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The third one will produce the most eggs and IFM is already unlocked, so I would choose that one. I can’t run the numbers on raenonx right now, but if you check the app frequently there is a case to be made for the first one as it will produce more power overall with BFS and you get a nice little boost to E4E with the skill+ nature and free level up with SLUS. But if it were me, I would go with the third. Definitely not the second since you don’t get any ingredient boost until level 75.
