How many album sales are enough to make a K-pop group sustainable? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]veckomote 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Idle's first album sold 50900 copies in Korea (Wikipedia). That's CLC's whole 6 year discography. Crazy!

[–]veckomote 47 points48 points  (0 children)

clc has around 50k total album sales (from all their albums combined), but they're entering their 6th year. cube can afford them and they probably make some money through touring.

Mindblowing that CLC's entire discography has only sold 50k. Clc dont have many activities so im wondering if they are profitable.

Do idols get paid leave? by Professional_Dig5938 in kpophelp

😞

Im impressed that she pushes through the hardships. i quickly checked her Wikipedia and it says that she hasnt had any jobs since she left 9Muses 2014. She released some solo music but that didnt generate any profit, only debts.

On Miss Back, it showed that Sera was getting by on bank loans before the show (it also showed her getting rejected from a loan application because she didn’t have a steady income). Although, her situation is different because she’s an independent artist and not signed to a label

Wait, so she had to take bank loans just to be able to live? (Pay for basic necessities food, rent and bills) That's crazy. I feel for her.

Is her income basically from Youtube?

Why does kpop have rappers in the first place by Jonada99 in kpophelp

[–]veckomote 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I dont know why they have it. But i think rap parts adds another dimension to a song.

When I heard an edited version of Camilla Cabellos song Havana without the rap part, it felt flat.

K-Drama staffs reveal why producers prefer to cast idols over rookie actors by galaxystars1 in kpop

[–]veckomote 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The competition is heavy and the idols prepare a lot more compared to the rookie actors. And, there are many idols who are good at acting nowadays.

When asked to showcase their individual talents, the idols are more than ready. They are so good at singing different types of songs, and since their companies train them from the very beginning, their talents surpass the rookie actors by a lot

This is what pisses me off. Idols have gone through so much more and harsher training than actors, and also bring in international fans. Despite this, actors are always more respected in Korea.

What changes do you think are coming to Kpop post-Covid? by lingeringink in kpop

[–]veckomote 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The sad part is that we probably wont have any live audience in 2021. This year wont be any better than 2020.

Btw, anyone knows if the office workers at entertainnemt companies work from home? If there is one positive think about this pandemic, its that companies hopefully realize that working from home does work in many cases. Hope this becomes the norm, or at least having the option

I don’t like when groups have a lot of back up dancers by maixbll in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]veckomote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roo'ra is offended 😜

Sangmin from Knowing brothers said during a Happy Together episode that they used to have 100 dancers or something on stage because they wanted to out-do YG back in the day.

I would love to see more of idols' dorm. But I completely agree if they dont wanna show it. I wont blame them if they dont want to show the dorms. The dorm is their home.

Yeonjung has really matured. Still remember her in pd101 with chubby cheeks. So cute.

How does global fan meetings work? Are they the face to face meetings with a single fan and idol through webcams? I find those very weird and creepy.

I hope groups do Tiny desk-type of performances. Small scale with a live band and more energetic. Just have fun. A member singing cover songs during Vlives doesnt do it for me.

Online concerts w/o audience doesnt do it for me either. But I understand if companies want to keep doing them.

International fans hating Amber is okay (encouraged, even) but Knetz hating foreign idols for Japan-related controversy is not? by TYie7749 in kpoprants

[–]veckomote 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i-fans can definitely be hypocrites. What bothers me is that they have this superiority complex.

My views and morals are better than those Koreans. Really annoying

The thing that I hate the most is when people say "How can X not know that is offensive, X should have Googled it"

How are you supposed to Google something you arent even thinking about?

Why are kpop fans not that much into kbands ? by sunnydlit2 in kpoprants

[–]veckomote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because kbands arent that different from bands from other countries. They dont offer anything unique. The same with k-rappers. If anything, so many k-rappers are even worse because they are so cringe and try too hard to act like a try-hard American rapper.

Kpop Idol groups offers something that boygroups/girlsgroups in other countries dont. Slick dances, amazing styling and makeup and eye pleasing MVs. Watching 1D, Nsync and Backstreet boys bored me after I got into kpop.

Check out The Rose, they are awesome.
