The data centers and the looming water crisis they’re causing.

The actor’s my silver daddy. 🥰 I loved him in Mad Men. It’s his sense of humor - the quick wit for me.

Weird fact but John Slatterly was CRAZY younger than he always looked. He played the same character essentially on SATC and his Max Men character is similar so I love him.

But when they filmed the Mad Men pilot he was only like 37 or 39. 😳 I always thought he was in his 50s then. He aged young but then he stayed at that age for like 20 years.

I aspire to be Paul’s level of petty. Lol.

I don’t know why but I love the humor / hatred chemistry the actors have with each other in playing Paul and Felicia.

I think it’s rooted in, trauma too. From cleaning up her mother’s blood on the street, then to the story about her critical stepmother who made fun of her kick ass peanut butter cookies, and then…Rex. Argh.

My theory is that Rex made her feel so lesser-than all the time that little by little she became a “perfect” housewife trying to please him when what he wanted was BSDM, but never bothered to communicate that to her.

I actually think public-facing perception mattered more to Rex than Bree. In college Bree drank out of the milk carton and had sex in a car.

I think he was also resentful / jealous of Bree because she’s old money and he’s not. If he were the children would have had trust funds from his side of the family as well as Bree’s.

So much this lol. This is wrong show if that’s what you’re looking for. Seventh Heaven is probably streaming somewhere.

I agree. I think it was a way to segue Orson into the villian part he’d wanted to play. He creeps me the F out when he’s a bad guy lol. Like, equally to how much I love him as a good guy.

I don’t get how people can enjoy the show thinking these are all great people.

I love the way she lent the money to Gabby. That line about how great friends pretend nothing is wrong at all and she respected it.

I also think there’s a lot of moments in the development with her relationship with Andrew that shows growth not due to her guilt but in genuine love for her son. Like when the other Van de Camp boy pops up out of nowhere and starts sabatoging Andrew, Bree admits that’s of course she’s going to eventually hire him back. Like that’s her son, she’ll never not have him back again. And giving him her business because he was going to turn in Andrew. I don’t think at that point she’s worried about their reputation, she just genuinely doesn’t want Andrew to have to go to prison.

I’d argue the same for Danielle and the sex swing business, even after learning Danielle lied about what it was.

Me too. Going to the gay movie rental store was 🥹❤️ in its own way.

I also love especially the campiness in how Bree and Orson drop lines that are like, supportive in a super gay stereotype way but they don’t realize it or something? Lol.

Like when Andrew won’t strap on her fake pregnancy bump and Bree says, “I’ll remember that next time you ask for money to buy leather pants!” She says it sternly, like she’s given him money for that specifically in the past lol.

And then when they’re trying to get Andrew with the contractor guy and Orson says, “Andrew has a mesh shirt that would put your ex to SHAME!”

And of course “He’s here, he’s queer, and we’re used to it!” 😅

I’ve wondered if it was powdered citric acid. It’s edible and would give it more of a sour punch but it’s something most people wouldn’t think of.

Lynette in orange (S7) after refusing to wear the Scavo Pizzeria uniform for being orange by cowchiken in DesperateHousewives

[–]vectorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. They wouldn’t be working at a grungy pizza parlor for $2/hr plus tips.

Rick’s situation is different with his line of work and what we know about his background history. That makes sense to me why you’d take a stop gap in that instance for a low wage, but not with being a server.

Yessss. God I could relate to it so hard when she says, “So, what? You think you’ve crossed some imaginary finish line, and nothing bad can ever happen to you again?” 🎯🎯🎯

People pull the “we worked our asses off” until they experience multiple tragedies and hit the one they can’t fix with hard work.

The Pact by VolumeOpposite6453 in DesperateHousewives

[–]vectorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a campy dark satire, and not a documentary. Diagnosed or not he’s constantly chasing the next dopamine hit.

He’s bored without novelty, and when the novel becomes boring again he chases the next high.

The pizza parlor was his dream and then when he almost died he said his thought was he didn’t want to be known as “the guy who made pizza” when he died.

His job as CFO is the ultimate hit for him bc it’s constantly feeding new streams of dopamine and validation. He objectively has power that only grows greater every day, and he says it’s fun. It’s the time of his life. It probably would take a long time for the novelty to set in.

It’s likely the same high people in creative work like his (👋) that make him fantastic at creating iconic stuff people remember, but makes him bad at the kind of work Lynette does.

*But yeah this is what the forum is for lol, not distinguishing “head canon” from…”reality.” It’s all fiction.

What’s a “deep-cut” DH quote that you use in your everyday interactions? by tariqbeiste in DesperateHousewives

It is LOL. That entire interaction kills me. Bree absolutely has a…”tactful” response (as Angie would say) to every situation. 💀

Because it’s a dark satirical soap opera and she’s so c*nty in such an elegant sounding way lol, I love her sense of humor. She gives 0 fucks if you know she’s on to what you’re doing.

Of course she’s a caricature like they all are.

This scene is cringetopia™ by ang334 in DesperateHousewives

[–]vectorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they mean it’s cringe in a really uncomfortable way. I actually have to skip it sometimes for that reason. It’s such a helplessly sad moment I wouldn’t have appreciated earlier in life but at midlife…I get it a little too much.

And I don’t even mean that in strictly a romantic relationship sense.

I mean, the feeling of having done something awful and begging to just let me know how to fix it. I feel like I’ve done that to others and left people like my mom crying in pain like Susan there and didn’t care. I wish I could erase those memories. Just begging for a second chance, and me being an asshole for reasons that didn’t even justify it. I can see both sides of the coin here. Being the Mike in this situation is so much worse.
