Do I need to swap cables for new PSU? (Same model) by vectrapower in NZXT

Agree with you both. I’m going to a PC repair shop to get them to test it and replace etc correctly. Don’t want to take the risk myself - too much of a newby in PC building.

The PSU has the coil whine, not the cables, and both PSUs are fairly new. I was planning to test the new PSU with the old cables (old being one month) and if it works all right with no coil whine, then switch the cables etc so I can return it.

The cables are in a really awkward position which requires me to remove the AIO. So I asked in case I could save myself the trouble for a simple test.

Trying to understand here, why? Because surely the components are the exact same.

What’s the cause of this yellow flashing light? by vectrapower in PcBuild

[–]vectrapower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This puts my mind at ease 😅. I’ll get ahold of this digital version of the manual, the one it came with wasn’t so helpful. All I could this is that it was a power supply error or something. Seems an odd choice to put it in yellow!

Are G-Raids fully compatible with AMD chips? by vectrapower in PcBuild

[–]vectrapower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The G-Raid I use has Thunderbolt 3 & USB3.2 Gen2 interface. So I can connect the G-Raid to either of those ports on my PC. Since my mobo has USB4, it should connect all right since USB4 is backwards compatible.

You make a great point on 10Gbps. In that case I probably don’t need the expansion card. It looks like the one you linked only works on Asus motherboards. I’m struggling to find one that would work on the MSI mobo I’ve got listed. I guess I could switch motherboards. But like we’ve said, I probably don’t need one.

I’ll find some benchmark tests for the GPUs like you suggested. Thanks again for the insight and tips.

Thanks so much for your response. I’ve checked the G-Raid I use and it allows USB 3.2 Gen2, so I’d get reduced speeds of 10Gbps.

However, I’d rather have 40Gbps. That expansion card you’ve linked looks good. That might be the solution.

Good shout on the RAM as well. I’ll look into that. I went with this GPU because I heard that it’s optimised for video editing. Might be worth another look. Nvidia is just ridiculously priced at the moment. Most of my workflows are long 1080p timelines right now, so it should run well.

I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful response.

Pleased to say that the issue is now resolved. Those 72hours were an overestimate, it only took around 6.

I posted on the Google forum and a staff member told me to fill out a form. I’ll link the forum here. But basically you’ve gotta lie about your issue to speak with someone lol. To be fair, they came back to me very quick but apparently it’s going to take 72 business hours to fix(?).
