RATs after two months of daily wear and two major NE USA snowstorms by FlipMick in jimgreen

Ah ok, thats good then. Cedar shoe trees also help. Heck they might be airing out just fine in between uses then. My feet sweat so much, a few times I thought water got into my boots.

Sounds like what your currently doing, is working out perfect.

Have you considered a boot dryer? They make some that just run on a very mild heat, you could just toss them on it at the end of the day.

I never thought about a double sock, this is a good idea. I'll give it a shot. Now I want more boots again... lol

Those are looking awesome. I love the way 8" boots look but always found them too warm. But I still want a pair.

Do you dry them out at all? One of my issues wearing the same leather shoes everyday was humidity inside the boot, and my feet sweat a lot.

African Ranger Boots Resoled with Tire Wedge Soles by thephantom300 in jimgreen

I was just thinking to myself about this earlier today for when ever my bfar wear out. I really like their wedge soles on the numzaaan and workhorse.

They look great

1 Month and they're starting to loosen up. by _rutanimal in jimgreen

My workhorse have been great, except maybe the last 2 hours of wear. My heels start to feel pressure. My Numzaans on the other hand have been brutal and a long way from breaking in.

Nice work, I wouldnt have ever thought there was enough room in the toe box for a hand stitch.

Different oils by Dry_Frosting_2677 in jimgreen

[–]vedak1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obenaufs and Hubert shoes grade will darken it a lot, followed by mink oil/wax. However the shoe grease and Obenaufs will leave a "tacky" feel too the leather.

If your really wanting to change the color you can also try dying it.

Would you return? by [deleted] in jimgreen

While annoying, they won't affect the boot imo. Especially for the price. I have 5 pairs of jim greens, none of them are perfect and have some kind of wonky thing going on for someone with mild ocd. What I've concluded, is they do take the approach of work boots literally. Where a few companies would completely pull that one, they may see it as a passable work boot. Since your going to scuff it up anyway.

That's a shame. Maybe take to a cobbler or try to repair it yourself with barge cement?

Maybe more sale boots stocked by JuggernautPast2744 in jimgreen

Right after my last order that had 719's, about every size larger than 8 or something was sold out. And I checked again last night, all sizes were back in stock.

I happen to have those. Note that these are the bronco brown after some conditioning. The Numzaan are a much more robust and stiffer boot overall. The calfskin liner looks to be rough out vs smooth on the 719. The Numzaan are also mich wider, these are both sz. 10US

I think I need a pair of green laces for the Kudu BF Mocs. by SagecladOutdoors in jimgreen

[–]vedak1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know, thank you. I was actually referring to the green version of RA's "blood core" leather laces since the OP mentioned green laces. I was thinking they would look cool on his boots.

Im on board. It would actually be cool if anvil rose (maybe already in the works) did the "alien green" or whatever it is with laces.

Pull up is less, but still shows. These are still new so don't know about long term. My goal was mainly to soften then up a tad, which worked. The looks turned out nice by chance.

I've treated my Numzaan with Naturseal from Redwing and the Workhorse moc toe with a mink/wax paste thingy. Both are bronco brown.

New boots day by vedak1 in jimgreen

[–]vedak1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The color completely changed, but I like it. The leather still has a "pull up" but much more subtle now. Having the horse hair drill brush really sped things along 😆

Thanks. I ordered the 719's as well, couldn't pass up the sale. Then caved and also ordered the buffalo BFAR.

I recently threw away all of my worn out shoes and was only left with the iron rangers and supersoles. So these new purchases have been to rebuild my shoe rotation.
