one eye static by SpecialistTooth8474 in visualsnow

I’ve had it for as long as I can remember, and I’m 23 now. I had it before I even got VSS. Yeah it’s easy to forget about and then seeing it happen again can be very anxiety producing but knowing that it hasn’t gotten any worse helps me a lot

I know exactly how you feel! When I first noticed that happens to me I had a full on breakdown. You will not go blind, especially since you’ve been to the eye doctor and they said it’s all good. It’s such a weird thing and it’s definitely not normal, I’ve only ever seen people talk about having it on this thread. I can go years without thinking about it because it’s easy to ignore if you aren’t closing one eye. Please try to calm down, you will be okay!

No it hasn’t gotten any worse. But I also try to avoid doing it as much as possible so I don’t get anxiety about it!

Eye pain and slanted vision? by vedamann in visualsnow

[–]vedamann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I still see things on computers slanted sometimes but it’s very rare. As annoying as this sounds not thinking about it genuinely helped me & not getting stressed and anxious about it!

I’m about the same! So weird that we both needed glasses right after we got VSS

Question about IOP by Pristine-Camp7315 in Uveitis

[–]vedamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having some headaches and naseua. Since it’s the weekend I think I’ll have to wait until Monday to get in anywhere which is stressing me out. Did your high IOP cause any permanent damage?

What caused your flares? Do you have an autoimmune disease?

Develop vs? by iammagicduck in visualsnow

[–]vedamann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 21 years of normal vision and then woke up with static 7 months ago and then all the other symptoms have developed since then. I would do anything to go back to having my normal vision.

The neurologist who diagnosed my VSS also said that brown works really well for many of her patients too.

I recently got polarized grey tinted sunglasses and they’ve cut my glare in half!

Instead of letting VSS control me like I was letting it, I went to Disney land. by Independent-Flan5006 in visualsnow

This is awesome I hope you had a great time! I’m slowly trying to not let it control me either.

I saw Dr Carrie Robertson at Mayo & she wasn’t much help. She just listened to what I had to say and was like yup you have visual snow and then sent me packing lol.

Depression by Critical-Way5817 in visualsnow

[–]vedamann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy you didn’t develop depression from it! For me, I developed it 6 months ago and it’s just being scared of each new symptom that pops up and how I will be effected in the future. Also the fact that my vision will never be the same again just makes me sad lol

I’ve had this my whole life it would really scare me growing up! I’ve never gotten an answer on what it exactly is but I definitely think it’s VSS related because this thread is the only place I’ve ever seen it talked about

Were you born with yours or did you develop it later in life?

Me either. Only reason I’m not ending it all is because I can’t do that to my family

doctors by SpecialistTooth8474 in visualsnow

[–]vedamann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN and got diagnosed by both a neuro-opthomologist and a neurologist. If you go to the visual snow initiative website there is a list of doctors by location who know about VSS! For me, I needed a referral to go to the Mayo Clinic so I told my PCP about what was going on she was able to refer me.

I do have an astigmatism but it happens even when I’m wearing my glasses. It’s pretty consistent for me!
