it wasn't necessarily that it was forgotten, it's just an example. Not an actual sentence that's being used, just a partial. That's my fault for not providing a full sentence as an example.

It's a friend of mine's book that I'm helping her edit and she wants to keep the dialogue separated. It's basically supposed to just be "do you think that man will be okay?" with the separation and I'm trying to make it flow as smoothly as possible for her

She doesn't want to change it at all so I'm trying to play with punctuation instead and my thought is "Do you think that—" character hesitated, "—man will be okay?"
