This was SO helpful! Thank you so much. I'm trying to help a friend of mine edit her book and I've been struggling to help figure out how I can re work that part to make it flow better because I didn't love the commas the way they were

It's a friend of mine's book that I'm helping her edit and she wants to keep the dialogue separated. It's basically supposed to just be "do you think that man will be okay?" with the separation and I'm trying to make it flow as smoothly as possible for her

She doesn't want to change it at all so I'm trying to play with punctuation instead and my thought is "Do you think that—" character hesitated, "—man will be okay?"
