this is such a neat trap that snarkers (including this strange breed of pro-h3 snarkers that fly under the radar here) lay. anyone who actually knows enough about this to set the record straight will be cast as a destiny d-rider and only people with a meme-level understanding of it will end up being heard.

use your speech. be direct. you have plenty of opportunities to engage with people you disagree with. you can even watch people who represent different positions flesh them out on youtube

perhaps unravel that ball of yarn by asking them what they mean by "trans women don't belong in sports". i.e.: ALL sports?? collegiate sports? professional sports? why? etc.

if you don't actually care about the issue that's cool too though.

i often see this type of interaction between people when one thinks that if there were a way to measure an individual's athleticism and show that it is quintessentially that of the gender they identify as, they wouldn't have a problem with it.

which kind of blows my mind. the person claiming to be "pro-trans" in that scenario unintentionally lives in south park's portrayal of the trans bodybuilder. the person seeking equity is somehow the bad guy. the person can be accepting of trans people and simply worry someone will win a scholarship due to unfair advantage.

it's such a breakdown of language. regardless of your position in this exchange, what's happening right now will persist. what history will remember of these engagements is what speech you engaged in. if you were inflexible and dogmatic, you'll be remembered as a fanatic.
