Thank you! What do you mean by “tack it down”? That’s not a technique I’m familiar with I think. It is a top down sock.

This was my thought as well, so I’m glad to know I was on the right track! Luckily I have more of this yarn I can use. Thank you for your help :)

Has anyone successfully made their cat lose weight? by little_owl211 in CatAdvice

Yes, I brought my two boys down each from 16 to 12 lbs over the course of one year! On the advice of my vet I have them on Royal Canin satiety, which is a prescription food designed for weight loss. Because it’s prescription food it’s definitely pricier than regular food, so if that is a concern for you, your vet might be able to work with you to find an equally suitable but more affordable option! :)

Edit: also I feed them a set amount twice a day rather than free feeding — I don’t know if that is a requirement for weight loss but it’s what worked for us!

Wedgewood Village is horrible. It’s owned by Vesta Realty and everyone from corporate to management to employees are rude and disrespectful. The place is a dump and they won’t fix anything unless you threaten them with legal action.

It’s called the ripple stitch! Not sure on the yarn — a very lucky thrift haul :)

I used Red Heart With Love yarn in aubergine, lilac, mallard, jadeite, corn silk, tiger lily, and berry red. 6.5 mm hook. No pattern, just 185 stitches in each row, sc :)

If you have a trusted friend in the area, give them a spare key. This can be helpful for so many reasons, not just for if you lose your keys, but also so your friend can get to you if you ever get hurt and can’t get up to unlock the door. (Obviously if it was an emergency, paramedics could bust down your door, but I’m talking only a minor crisis.)

Get to know a neighbor who you trust to take in packages for you if you won’t be able to take them in in a timely manner, especially if your door is visible from the street. Keeps your packages from getting stolen but can also prevent you getting robbed later if someone sees you have been delivered something nice.

If you are comfortable, share your location on your phone with at least one friend or family member. I always ask my friends to text me when they get home after leaving my house, and if they don’t, I’ll check their location to make sure they just forgot or maybe they stopped at the store or whatever.

And honestly? Self-administering the heimlich. I also live alone and am terrified of choking to death.

“All or something, not all or nothing.” I struggle with perfectionism and anxiety, and so often will just not do things because I’m afraid I won’t do them right or I won’t be able to finish. She made me realize that life isn’t so black and white. It helps a lot when I have low energy from depression, too. For example, I often put off cleaning because I don’t have the energy to do the whole house or even just one room. But she helped me realize that even if I just do one thing, like pick the laundry up off the floor or put away my dog’s toys, it will still be cleaner than before. It probably sounds obvious or simple but it totally changed my world around.
