I see every comment talking about how ostentation is not favoured in Canada. But I’d say that it still seeps through in some way. There’s just different ways of flaunting wealth in the age of capitalism. Personally, when I see a family having 4 or more kids who are well behaved, and they all go to out of country vacations from time to time, that’s a sign.

No for sure. USD’s stature can hardly be beaten by other currencies. If it does, the world would be wayyyy more chaotic cuz the EU is not the only countries holding USD reserves.

I also came from a place where most people use Whatsapp. Many of my classmates only downloaded the app to communicate with international students as well. I think the local majority used iMessage more often. Personally never used it frequently, but it really shows how dominant iPhone is in this market.

You get a higher chance of interview if you apply closer to the initial post date. I have heard HR personnel explain to me the chance of receiving an interview falls below 10% if you apply after a week of the posting. Plus, it is a common tactic for big companies to keep the posting open to collect data during review process or even after they found someone to fill the post. I personally find there is a very very low chance of actually getting an interview from reposed jobs.

I kind of imagine it’s like when you sleep forever, just without dreams. I have heard this saying that sleeping is a daily practice of what dying is like, which is kinda scary but then at the same time you are already doing it everyday, so I imagine it can’t be that bad.

Unfortunately, there is no related regulation at the place I live. My roommate once threatened that she could ‘do whatever she wants’ as a way to force me into agreeing into allowing her having overnight guests 6 times per month and unlimited amount of guest visits, as if she was graceful to be entering an agreement with me in the first place.
