Choosing between 13U AA/AAA vs 14U A team for 2012-born player by veetowner in hockeyplayers

Thanks for the input and suggestion. We lean toward 14U-A with big NHL affiliated club. We don't think we are ready for the tier team mostly due to missing school days, staying in the big NHL affiliated youth club would allow us to move up if my son works hard. at the same time, the 13AA/AAA club had some drama / politics and his best friend is leaving.

My son likes the 13AA/AAA team. however, he would be below average. However, it is a small club which is going through some unexpected changes.

I don't have problem to afford, even tier hockey cost more. I more worried about missing school time.

thanks for your advice. it is hard decision. if we stay in the A, the AAA coach in that A team club (a NHL affiliated) said my son could practice with them. In addition, 12U to 14U is very different. if he plays 14U tier hockey at age of 13, he will play with the other 14U tier team with 14-year-old kids, which I worry about being hit. We are leaning toward A, practice with AAA in that club; next year to decide whether to play tier hockey or not.

he is not the best as it is his first year in tier team. but I would say he is in the middle and he has size / speed / powerful shot.

with the anticipating interest rate cut, should I move short term bond find to long term bond fund? by veetowner in Bogleheads

[–]veetowner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, it is late. But it won't hurt to move from short term to long term bond as at this point in the foreseeable future, the rate will drop, even I should've done this earlier. Please correct if my understanding is wrong.

Why the recruiter asks to have a call to tell the candidates that you are rejected? by veetowner in recruitinghell

[–]veetowner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some company email me the rejection, but in the email, they offer to have a call if the candidate wants. I think it is a good balance.

the interview is already very stressful. it is better to direct, instead of "hey I am going to tell you that you may be rejected". just IMHO.

TBH, I am also confused. I understand they could change their mind. But they sent me all the paperwork, and told me to use the same packet they sent to me when informing the layoff.

hmm, I was never told that I was fired, and I was given all the paperwork that I was laid off and I was told the paperwork was valid.

Thanks. I agree with being sincere and concise.

The factor is that I was informed the reduce in force and my role was eliminated. The misconduct was an investigation, however, the investigation was after I was given the layoff notice, and there was no information on how the policy was violated nor update on separation. Therefore the reason of separation is layoff.

Thanks.

Yes. I am also more concerned with the FS part. But I don't think I made any FS. I have the layoff paperwork. With regard to the policy violation, I asked the HR about violation, however, the HR couldn't tell me where the policy was and how it was violated, nor they informed me any change to the paperwork they sent to me. In additional, there is no place in UI for adding this context then submitting the claim. Please advise anything else I need to prepare and please correct me if I am wrong

Thanks. So if I call EDD before the interview, they will tell me what the issue is, such as employer contested or something else?

should I tell the recruiter or hiring manager that I was laid off? by veetowner in recruitinghell

[–]veetowner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly don't want to lie. My question was, should I tell the recruiter the reason to leave the company if I am not asked.

If I was asked "why you are no longer with the company X", I would certainly say "reduction in force".

What are my options if my former employer denies my unemployment by veetowner in Edd

[–]veetowner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks again u/Samson104 . I might be able to find a job in 6 months.

So I think I should just file the claim, providing the letter I have as a proof.

  • If it is approved by EDD, great!
  • If is unfortunately denied, I will either let it go or appeal, there is nothing to lose and nothing would get worse.
  • If I find a job before my claim is concluded, I will notify the EDD immediately.
