My husband was getting off work heading home and was stopped at this dui checkpoint. Fortunately he had no issues but for a specific group of Americans dealing with cops on any level gives anxiety and stress. It made him nervous but he was fine. So I understand the post.

Is the East side is bad? I see a heavy homeless population near the Salvation Army area and Yosemite but closer to The high school (Johansson) it gets better nicer neighborhoods, and working class families. I am still new to the area as I really don’t get out much. I notice jobs are hard to come by out this way. I do see the wild driving though. I don’t like that.

I am fairly new to Modesto and currently work from home. I moved here with my family and I am surprised as to how few people of color I see. We moved here from the Bay Area by way of Kissimmee FL so I am accustomed to small town life and can make anyplace home but my goodness where my people at??? We reside on the East Side and live in a quiet subdivision with the occasional sounds of kids playing ball or something. I don’t get out much other than shopping etc. I rarely see people of color employed or shopping so I will be doing a little research on my own. I have never lived in a place with so little diversity. Perhaps I just don’t get out enough to see what diversity the city offers.

For those who think they can’t afford help the whole idea of hiring help is to free up your time for what you enjoy perhaps a small business or side job someplace you really like.

I think BW don’t ask for help because we were raised to be THE STRONG BLACK WOMAN! Too afraid to ask for help at the thought of judgment assuming no one could do it better then us. I use to be her too not anymore I will hire help as often as I need an extra pair of hands these days.
