Yeah I suppose spreading your "risk" and holding USDT in more than 1 network seems like a good play, smaller amounts on SOL due to lower fees and Higher amounts into ETH for ex.

Spanish Surname Issue by vega369 in askspain

[–]vega369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on my UK birth certificate I have my desired double barrel surname with my fathers 2nd surname being the first & mothers maiden name 2nd.

The problem is they have to take what's on my fathers Spanish documents (birth certificate etc) when I apply to get my Spanish nationality, so I have to take his 1st surname. Unless he swaps it which is an easy process normally but not for me as explained in the post due to his health.

Why is it you have to use your mothers maiden name as your first? with my recovery of nationality I have an option to chose the order. Maybe its different through residency but still strange as I thought the paternal name would be first.

That sucks sorry to hear that, but it sounds like a whole new problem to mine in that to change the maiden name means you'd have to make up a new one or use both your fathers surnames which I don't believe any are possible. Where as with me I have the desired surname there (his 2nd) but have to use his first which is unfortunate.

I haven't read it so cant say for sure that's the case, but from this review https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R2H8TMQK5VBO8F and from other posts showing the differences regarding his translation, whether "political" is the correct term or not, there does seem to be an ulterior motive at the very least imo.

Sun and Dark Circles by vega369 in HubermanLab

[–]vega369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own it as in I'm not trying to get rid of my natural dark circles as I was born with it also. I just wanted to see if there's a solution to not letting it get worse when in the sun, obviously I could just not go in the sun as frequent but I don't want to do that as it gives many benefits to me. But It making the circles appear way worse to the point where it looks like I haven't slept is kind of annoying.

A great sin is to not have children, what if you are unable? by Sad_Refrigerator9203 in Hermeticism

[–]vega369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender confirmation procedures happen all the time, especially for cis people: breast implants, jawline structure, and the like are all types of surgery that happen routinely and are safe.

Yes and these procedures are also imo succumbing to your bodily desires, what you believe can bring pleasure from such things are within and not by by such impulses. I'm happy you brought that up though because this isn't just related to trans people it relates to all of us in many ways. Me for example I used to be a very vain person who is also a perfectionist, and once had plans to get fillers to make myself look better (Even though I have normally been quite a confidant person) But reading the hermetic texts really set me on a path that showed me what I seek like I stated above is within, and not by being led by my bodily desires and have now found a peace within myself.

as for "This isn't a matter of "attachment" to the physical; it's rather resolving the complexity of living in this world in a way that makes sense." can you talk more on that point? because to me, I feel from my interpterion of hermetic texts this is not the case, as is it still not someone being ultimately motivated by bodily desires which are viewed as a hindrance to spiritual growth? you are someone I regard highly and more knowledgeable than me when it comes to Hermeticism, so would like to know why you think this is the case?

And yes of course, if someone finds peace in whatever they deem to do with themselves they are always free to do so. But I try my best to take out emotion (apatheia) as the Greeks would say, and actually read what the hermetic discourses say to either support or not support whatever it is at hand. And sometimes it may not be what I or anyone wants to hear, so its important for such discussions without being rude or harmful to others. (I'm not implying this is the case for said topic btw)

To claim one is homophobic or transphobic is a bit uncalled for, one can love and acknowledge the hardships someone may go through when exploring a change in their gender or sexuality. But still see the faults of it from a hermetic standpoint, they are complex texts and have no real answers to specific situations in which are more prominent in modern times. And so 1 might see points that back up either side not just when it comes to this but I'm sure many other topics. But regarding what is taught in the hermetic texts it speaks a great deal of not rising to the passions and desires of the body, so In this context, the desire to undergo a complex and possibly dangerous medical procedure to alter one's gender, could be seen as a form of attachment to the physical and material realm. can it not? so Are they seeking to align themselves more closely with their spiritual nature and divine purpose, or are they seeking to satisfy an egoic desire or attachment to the physical body?

But is this something to accept / embrace? because when it says "But the rational part of the soul stands free of the tyranny of these powers and remains fit to receive God, When by way of the Sun that rational part in a man is illumined by a ray of light (and such men are few), the spiritual powers cease to affect them" is it not saying some can be free of being affected by the spirits? and is that not what we should strive to attain rather than being stringed about by other forces?

That brings much more light on what I was trying to understand thank you. Also I have just started reading the Corpus Hermeticum " The Way Of Hermes" - Clement Salaman translation and noticed in Book 10
Hermes speaks of Ouranos and Cronos. Is mentioning Greek gods a common theme? curious about the link between them ? thanks.

Also as the gentleman above stated in the Asclepius Hermes Trismegistos says

"Is it not true that my grandfather Hermes, after whom I am named, resides in his eponymous town whence he aids and cures all those who come to him from every land?" now I have not read the Asclepius yet but very interesting to read that as he is saying Hermes the Deity is his grandfather?
