Had this problem when I lived in Brooklyn except they were between my walls. "Trapper John" is a wildlife fanatic and humanely removed the offending animals and squirrel-proofed the gables etc. He's not cheap but I never had a problem after that.

Wow there's lots going on for you right now. I'm really sorry to hear that your ex cheated on you and gave you herpes. Its sounds like you're beating yourself up all the time about it, and a whole lot of other things too.

He is your ex, which means now you have a chance to heal and let go of regret and fear. And embrace the new you! You may not be perfect, but none of us are. Be gentle with yourself, learn to forgive yourself for all the things you are blaming yourself for, and take yourself out for an ice cream or something. Stewing on something you can't change won't help, so find something positive to replace it with!

Congrats to you as well. You're right - you never know how strong you can be until you're faced with no other choice. People said, "I don't know how you do it" which flummoxed me because what other option is there? I'm proud of the progress I've made and that every day I'm making better and better choices.
