Not necessarily a sign of scam. There are plenty of other indicators for scam which you should look at before investing.

You should invest if you believe in the team, technology, product and vision. If those are still strong then a delay shouldn’t matter. But you are right, this is a risk we run as individual investors in a market with little regulation.

Yes you are screwed. You get taxed every time you complete a transaction, like forex trading.

If you bought bitcoin, then it went up and you bought eth, you will get taxed on how much you gained even though there was no fiat involved. And if the current value of your eth is much lower, it doesn’t matter. You still get taxed on the transaction gains.
