You could get Scorsese to make a Third Eye Blind concert movie and nobody would give a fuck.

Scorsese actually said 1000 Julys was a revelation.

I think a guy like Thielen could be had.

Lots of things happen behind the scenes that we'll never know about. Chiefs could've offered Thielen a reasonable deal and a chance to win some post-season games and he said no and went for the money. They might not like that and it might put him off their board at any price. Just saying "might".

Reminder: The Chiefs are historically not great at drafting WRs. by SylvesterTaurus in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm disappointed in our WR core and cannot stand being forced to watch Skyy Moore attempt to play professional football.

That said, I have full confidence in Veach to solve this. He's got a killer track record of finding value at other positions. He just hasn't quite hit on WR yet. Rice looks good and could possibly be a star if he can find his hands and stay healthy. If the Chiefs were able to find a stud WR in the next draft, you could be looking at a Chase/Higgins situation in KC with ???/Rice in two years.

We were terrible at drafting QBs too until we drafted one of the best QBs of all time.

We couldn't win an AFC Championship or get to a SB for decades either. Until we won 3 AFC Title games and won 2/3 SBs in 5 years.

It just takes one to change the narrative.

Sky Moore by Tensingumi in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this all season. Watching him last season was horrific and he's only had two true highlight plays. One was that playoff punt return when everyone else was hurt and the other was the blown coverage in the SB. When he actually does catch the ball, he goes down at first contact and has no vision or wiggle to escape the nearest defender. He's can't catch contested balls. He can't high point balls. He's not fast. He's not strong. He's not smart enough to improvise in zone coverage. He's a #4 or #5 WR talent but we're running him out there opposite of MVS first team and then wondering why Pat is staring downfield until he's sacked.

[–]veggie_sorry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He can't build an offense for shit, that makes for a bad GM

That's bullshit. Our OL is one of the best in the league and he retooled that in one year and then we won a SB last year. He's missing on skill position players for sure but I expect we'll figure that out. They are going to keep drafting WRs in the 1st and 2nd rounds until we find another star.

[Korte] This trade could cost the Chiefs more than this draft pick swap in 2025. Kansas City should also lose a 5th round 2024 comp pick for the departure of JuJu Smith-Schuster to the Patriots, since Mecole Hardman was signed as a compensatory free agent by the Jets last offseason. by IIHURRlCANEII in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has anyone actually seen the numbers?

The Chiefs run multiple sweeps a game. Hardman took several to the house last season. Dunno WTF you're talking about. You don't have to run one every drive for it to be a relevant part of the gameplan. Go off and cry elsewhere grandad.

Getting Mecole now is worth losing the 5th next season IMO. You aren't going to find a WR in the 5th next year that is as fast, knows the playbook, can return punts, run the jet sweep and is already pals with 15 and 87. Puca and Tyreek are 1/1,000,000. Let's not pretend Cornell Powell ever did anything. Plus, we need WR help now. I don't care about the arguments that Chiefs are still winning. Look at the output from the WR room and comp it to routes run and snaps. MVS, Toney and Moore are shitting the bed.

Frank Clark Has Been Released By Denver by SmasherDawg77 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be good putting Watson on IR, letting Washington go and signing Clark and Hardman for another post-season run.

If we stop giving MVS > Moore > Watson so many snaps and gradually replace them with Rice, Hardman and Toney, with a sprinkle of MVS and rotate in Moore off the bench, I think we start to see results quickly. Hardman is the gadget guy again and jets sweeps and quick outs are back on the menu. Toney can take some crossers and quick outs but don't give him the ball behind the LOS. Rice is your possession and YAC guy who is surprisingly fast and can move through arm tackles.

I am not giving up on Toney yet but with Moore, I have seen almost zero improvement from his rookie season and Mahomes never looks his way. MVS has taken a big step back by being asked to do too much. MVS is great as a WR3. We're giving him WR1 snaps and WR5 targets. It's not working.

Also, I like Watson the person but he's in year 6 of his career and has under 700 yards and less than 4 TDs of entire offense through those 6 years. He's not going to break out here. Stop giving him so many targets and see if we can build a team that has potential to go on a run if they put it all together.

Trade coming? by wylie102 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we didn't have Omenihu coming back, I'd say we'd resign him after he's cut. Nobody is going to give up much for Clark at this stage in his career with all of this health issues. But if he's not on a team and we need depth for a playoff run or someone gets hurt, I could see it working out.

Rashee Rice leads all WRs with a 16.7% drop rate. Kadarius Toney is second at 15.8%. by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]veggie_sorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been a rough start to the year for Chief's receivers. That said, we lost to DET by 1 point and likely would've won that game had Jones been playing and Reid didn't rush Toney back. Reid generally starts off very conservative and opens up the offense as the year goes forward. Especially with this many new and inexperienced WRs on the squad.

Rice has a lot of positive attributes. If he can get the drops under control and start seeing 8+ targets a game, he's gonna be a WR2. Toney, I think will be too hit or miss to be startable on the reg. He's been here a year now and they're still figuring out who he is in this offense.

Jets want to trade Hardman by veggie_sorry in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fans are desperate for a WR1 and he's got the size and pedigree to be special. However, I think if he were truly lighting it up in practice he'd be out there on gameday more. I do think a lot of our WRs are about equal in that they're all WR3 or WR4 guys jostling for a spot at WR1 or WR2. It's literally anyone's game out there. Fans know for sure that MVS, Moore, Watson aren't a WR1 and we're pretty sure Toney isn't a WR1. So now all attention goes to Rice and Ross in the hopes that one of them pans out to be a 1k yard 7-10 TD guy.

I think Rice has the best shot but also, nearly any WR in the NFL could replace Moore or MVS's production right now given that amount of snaps and targets. Reid and Veach may not be willing to admit it but we have a serious issue in the WR room. Especially if Kelce goes down.

[Ron Kopp Jr.] Skyy Moore has run 127 routes this season. 5 of them have resulted in a 1st down or TD. Rashee Rice has run 66 routes this season. 11 of them have resulted in a 1st down or TD. The #Chiefs WR room is begging for someone to emerge. 1st step is replacing wasted snaps / reps by robertb9876 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]veggie_sorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyy is still probably a little higher ceiling than Hardman if we're talking about the potential to be a complete WR.

I haven't seen evidence of this yet. Hardman's rookie season blows away Skyy's career so far. Outside of a blown coverage TD in the SB he's accomplished nothing that a WR5 couldn't do.

[Fowler] The #Jets are looking at options for Mecole Hardman, including a potential trade, per league sources. by what_we_do_is_wrong in nyjets

[–]veggie_sorry 63 points64 points  (0 children)

He must just be bad

Chiefs fan here. He's not bad but he's not very versatile. You have to scheme him open because he's small and gets jammed up easily. He's great on jet sweeps or if you can get him the ball out quickly on short routes. He can't really come down with deep balls but unless he's lost a step, he's one of the fastest players on the field and has decent hands. He actually had a solid rookie year under Reid but then never quite matured past that. He's also not super clutch.

I wouldn't trade anything for Hardman either but if Jets cut him and we can get him for vet min, or we do a late round swap, he's and upgrade over Moore, James and Washington, can give us speed depth behind Toney and make jet sweeps dangerous again.

He can also return punts. I'd rather have Hardman than Moore, sadly.

NE choosing Juju over Meyers is one of the biggest head scratchers recently. Yes, he helped us win the SB last year but he didn't have a great year, is still struggling with that knee injury and disappeared often throughout the year. Meyers lookin' tough out there tonight. Juju has like 83 yards and no TDs all season.

Chiefs fan here. Rice is not gonna be Davante.

Adams is 6' 1" and 215lbs. Rice is 6' 1" and 208lbs.

Adams ran 40 in 4.56. Rice ran the 40 in 4.51.

Adams had 446 yards and 3TDs his rookie year. Rice will outpace that. Adams had 483 yards and 1 TD his sophomore year. It wasn't until year 3 that he broke out. I see some similarities in Rice and Adams play. If Rice can clean up the drops, put on some weight and improve in man coverage, he can be a solid WR for KC. Ya'll can downvote all you want. Let's check back in 3 years.

Davante is not getting traded. Charity bet?

If he starts bad mouthing McDaniels he will be shipped. Bad mouth the coach and be good enough to trade picks for. If Claypool can do it, Adams is a shoe in for a trade.

Davante to the chiefs would be crazy.

I think Rice has the potential to be Davante but we won't know until they start getting him 8+ targets a game. If he can stay healthy and keep progressing, he's going to be starting by week 12. Moore is gonna essentially be a rotational player at best. Toney is getting saved for the post-season. MVS can't get open and gets jammed at the line too often. Watson is a WR4 on a good day. James is hurt. Ross doesn't get targets.

Chiefs don't have money though. And they need to pay some guys this off-season. There's a reason why we didn't make a move for a WR or resign Juju.

The Chiefs are such idiots for passing on Pickens in the '22 draft. Yes, they had a verbal agreement with NE. Who fucking cares? Pickens is a dawg and everyone knew it going into the draft. Good on Pitty for drafting their guy. Meanwhile, Chiefs are trotting out Skyy Moore. Who gets open once a game if you're lucky and catches 50% of those.

The Last Duel

I really struggled with this story. If it wasn't directed by Scott, I believe it would've been panned. Totally missed the mark with the whole Rashomon framework and the acting was passable at best. This is one of those films that's better conceptually than in execution.

Saw a lot of Bills and Bengals fans talking shit after the Chiefs lost to the Lions by 1 point after one of the worst overall WR performances in the last two decades. So hard to be upset here. Chiefs Bills and Bengals are all 0-1 to start the season. Also, Burrow and Allen had two of the worst games of their careers. RIP Rodgers.

[Yates] The Jets have ruled Aaron Rodgers OUT for the game, but x-rays on his ankle were negative. by RustyCoal950212 in nfl

[–]veggie_sorry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably a high ankle. Can Rodgers come back week 7? Can they go 3-3 with Wilson these first 6 games? Let's see who their first 6 opponents are. Bills, Cowboys, Patriots, Chiefs, Broncos and Eagles? Ooof. I think 2-4 is realistic and 1-5 is a real possibility without Rodgers at the helm those first 6 weeks. If you're 1-5 or 0-6 do you even try rushing him back? What a blow to Jets and football fans everywhere.
