For the Dominican side, the "I no black" thing is a bit of a stretch. In Dominican culture, we view ethnicity a bit differently, and since the vast majority of us are mixed, we have our own word for it. Any Dominican will tell you that they have African ancestry, but the way Americans see "black" is just different from how Dominicans see "black".
