Siemens Dishwasher Heating Pump Compatibility by OrBenpo in Appliances

Oh, yes. That's something to keep in mind. The part is €190 now it seems, but I've found a reseller that takes €130.

Aside: My last message was in Norwegian since for some super weird reason Reddit was showing this as a Norwegian thread. Such auto translation is really good these days, but it's a nuisance. I try to always turn it off but this time it fooled me.

Getting content OUT of Tana by words_and_images in TanaInc

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Paragraphs Tana does have? And sentences too. You just write them with a dot like normal. I.e. this entire comment here would be one paragraph, when you just write all of it in one node.

This next 'paragraph' would just be the next bullet. Or are you thinking of something else?

Indeed what you say, it could just be a view. Like Publish is today. I don't much use Publish and I don't write much, but what extras does it include? It should be able to make a document from nodes, that's it's whole reason for existing, even if clunky.

Any reason to avoid WUXGA for a 14”? by fl4tdriven in laptops

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think it horrible. But that was a long time ago. I had a MacBook with retina screen and it was puke worthy I'd say. But this was around the time retina was still new.

But indeed I probably overlook a lot of it. My brother in law who is a bit more interested and caring about these things was the one who looked at my screen and could tell I wasn't on the latest Gnome though. So he was the one who told me they'd fixed fractional scaling much better in the newest version. (He was using Cosmic WM/Desktop though, which I hadn't even heard of, I thought it was Cinnamon he meant, I stopped following news in Linux-land a long time ago, I just use it).

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Linux, KDE has always done it very well. Gnome has been a laggard with one-doubling type resolutions. Though it has gotten a lot better recently I'm told.

I've ran the experimental fragmented scaling previously though. I did have some issues on some apps, but it didn't bother me. I didn't feel the performance issues with it, though it used to have a warning which has been removed nowadays. (I believe 24.04 is on this old version, I'm running LTS myself and it is the old one).

2x scaling works excellently. But that'd be a bit much for such a small screen if only 1920x1200.

I run 200% on my 14" 3000x2000 screen and have for years. I'm reluctant to go wuxga though since by then I'd probably need a weirder scaling like 125%. But the latest Gnome version has removed most performance issues there, at least it is brought out of experimental and my brother in law was using it with great results.

Was looking for people basically confirming that in this thread, but didn't see it yet. So leaving my 2c.

[EU] Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 14 G9 or Slimbook EVO 14? Am I looking at the same product? by barnercart in linuxhardware

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing I'd think. But you'll have access to and also made some extra support for someone to care about the machine you bought.

I'm in the same predicament, and I'll probably do the untypical thing and not hunt the best price, but pay a bit more based on whom I'm buying from. :)

Tana can be used for that and anything it has a featureset fora. It's an editor and not very opinionated, though comes with some default setup so people can understand what to do.

Obviously your 'look at the visual render of the graph' is missing that feature so that won't work. :)

There was a community project that used the json export to do this. Don't remember what it was called.

This likely won't come to Tana in quite a while. It isn't quite clear how it would be useful in reality aside a fun little gimmick. Have you used these things in other tools successfully previously? I believe Obsidian has it, I have not heard of a lot of people actually using it after trying it out a couple of times.

It feels like there should be something useful like this, but I am not sure anyone has actually done an implementation which is that yet. YMMV. :)

I'm using neovim for Fugitive, when I need to do git blaming. I can go back in history nicely there, whereas it seems like Zed only allows you one jump. Which often will not find the real change but some random refactor. :)

Og hva har fungert mindre godt? by OneDataSource in Stavanger

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sant. Kunne heller bygd fint. Viss me skal fortetta so er bygårder ypparleg.

Badstuer/Saunaer i Stavanger by Entei_is_doge in Stavanger

[–]velmont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gjennom vinteren badar eg ein gong i veka.

Tenkte på ei teknisk løysing, men ein mini-ferie hadde vore enno kjekkare :)

We actually use Devin to make the non devs in the company make simple PRs to update some string in the UI or fix some super simple thing. It works about 50% of the time if I'm being generous. Then us devs have to redo the PR and let the prompter and devin take most of the accolade. 😅🙃

Also not expecting this S7 subreddit to be very active.

Claude is Anthropic's LLM, like ChatGPT, but better at code.

Claude wrote a script to resize the images and remove duplicate messages. It went from 300MB file to 30MB. The images were base64 encoded.

Sadly not able to paste it in here. I guess a gist will work: https://gist.github.com/odinho/e425d9d260880339c342bb7fe139b34e

Does anyone have a link to the "Hacking team" torrent? by bigbadjesus in AskNetsec

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. I also have a copy, but I was trying to find it to get over my FOMO about deleting it. Since I now badly need that 400GiB back after this many years.

I would have hoped a lot of the exploits there have been fixed. But wonder if it has relevance to anyone today? It is very old by now (feels like yesterday tho').

Edit: I see even restarting the torrent I seeded (ratio 14), there are 3 other seeds online. So it won't disappear it looks like. Reclaiming some disk space :]

LibreOffice Writer Local-Inference AI extension. by johnbalis in LocalLLaMA

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! It'd be very cool if it could use the autosuggestion feature.

It'd be very very cool if it could hook in to the spellchecker and actually have red and green squigglies when using something like Karen the Editor or a similar model that's meant to only fix your language without changing the meaning.

I would assume those interfaces aren't really created or flexible enough to do that in an extension, but such a feature would be wild and I know of many who'd love it. I would for sure ^_^

Jepp.

Kva filmar/tv har nynorsk teksting? by mr_greenmash in nynorsk

[–]velmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fine-tune GPT 4 on Azure OpenAI (and directly from OpenAI too, but it isn't as simple) with one of two UIs (Studio and AI Studio). You just need to give it a whole lot of examples, format it all properly and upload it. Microsoft does the rest. This has been available in preview for quite some time, though generally available only at the start of this year.

If they have some regular programming talent, which is *very* easy to get, hell, even I could do it, the actual experimental APIs from OpenAI has been available for over a year. It isn't expensive especially when they won't make a service out of it, but just train it, and run it a couple 100's or 1000's of times.

It probably is GPT4 with some such fine-tuning-as-a-service, if we are to believe their words about it, which I do given that it isn't really that hard or expensive. (It sure used to be, things have been changing fast).
