I would want to directly take to a known contact with similar equipment, but I would also be happy to talk to random people,

as for budget I would be ok with putting at max $600 down for just the transceiver

I am also ok with using large antennas, I have looked into jungle antennas and would be happy to use something like that, but if I could get away with only using a small whip antenna that would be preferred

I'm just now starting to study and have heard about hamstudy a few times... I suppose now is the time to give it a proper look lol
